Newsmax agreed to pay $67 million to Dominion Voting Systems to settle a defamation lawsuit over on-air claims that the company rigged the 2020 U.S. election, according to The Wall Street Journal. The conservative cable network will pay in three installments across current and future fiscal years, avoiding a high-stakes trial after a Delaware judge earlier ruled its statements were false. Dominion filed the lawsuit in 2021, one of several cases brought against media outlets and Trump surrogates. Newsmax also previously settled a similar case with Smartmatic. Shares of Newsmax rose 15% Monday on the news.
