09:02collection goes from workout to the weekend with one of the hottest activewear companies Kalia
09:09to give you guys some more insight into Kalia we have a special guest vice president and head designer for
09:20Kalia Alicia Scott so good to meet all of you we created Kalia about 10 years ago and really wanted
09:32to form a brand that is the perfect juxtaposition of fashion and femininity and function and I love how
09:39you guys have all styled all your pieces you got today our entire collection is rooted in performance
09:45if you're designing a look for Pilates or run it needs to be able to function we believe there's
09:51beauty in the burn how's it going to work whenever she is doing a downward dog make sure that when
09:56you're designing a piece it can be used for working out going to grab coffee going out to grab cocktails
10:02with your friends it needs to be versatile so not only has Kalia provided look books they've also
10:09provided all the fabrications for the challenge that's not all Kalia is going to produce and sell the
10:18winning look from the winning collection that would be so cool to have a Joseph McCray and Kalia produce
10:26that I feel like it would eat down I love the idea of this like beauty in the burn so what if we have
10:32like fire on the runway like actual fire so you'll have all of today and part of tomorrow to create
10:41your fire worthy collections don't you love a one-day challenge yes one day to do this as if there
10:49weren't enough stress already the burn of it all bye Ethan you want to see what it's like when you put

11:37group by putting all of the boisterous energies on one team I'm actually very happy that Ethan let go

11:56too and it could be hot to do the lines in the popular so we'll all have the lines incorporated

12:17it we decided to call our team the house of Lotus because we wanted to feel the then within the burn
12:23and so coming off the last challenge being in the bottom our stickler was our cohesion so as we're
12:31going through these fabrics that Kalia provided us we're really paying attention to what color palette
12:36we want to do so that we really nail that cohesion this time because if we miss it two times in a row
12:41are we gonna be done for I love this fabric that was trying to get the colors out of this this has all
12:48your colors once again Antonio is choosing the fabric and I'm getting a little anxious because
12:56the last time he chose fabric we were in the bottom can y'all roll the tape back so the fabric that I
13:03brought from home is in pink so let's have the inspiration of our collection be butterflies that's
13:08the best one out of all of them I think we should go with that I don't like that no you like this
13:14I mean I like this I don't like that either but I mean I wanted to start with Miss Joan I want to
13:20know what it is oh is the drama already beginning you know working with the twins you know they're a
13:26whole vibe but our looks have to be cohesive I love Miss Joan but she's a little little old school
13:34and stuck in the back in the days this fabric's so cool it's just more young I'll make it work
13:39don't use the fabric scissors you nincompoop I love Alex I didn't expect this competition to become
13:50so connective so quickly and me and Alex bonded so quickly it's so soft it's so cozy like she's
13:57gonna be in it I want it I want it I'm making a lounge sweatsuit with a corset bustier top it all
14:06sprouted from trying to use the aspects of a kimono I grew up in Greensboro North Carolina but my Nana
14:15was a tailor from Nagasaki Japan so I find a lot of inspiration in what the Japanese call intangible
14:23cultural treasures but my mama would say that I don't bring enough of the South with me how are you
14:32feeling this week feeling great it looks really cool thank you so much I appreciate that you are
14:37absolutely looking at the next winner of Project Runway my design aesthetic is a combination of
14:44street wear and elegance I want to win Project Runway for my daughter Ava it's right here having
14:51her change me as a person it gave me so much more drive and I do this all for her so I have to make this
14:58stand out and hopefully while the judges Madeline what informs your work I'm trying to always like
15:09see things that I like about vintage fashion but then giving it like my own little twist what about
15:17yourself I grew up in like a hoedunk farm town I just felt inherently so different from the rest of my
15:23family the only thing I could really do was you know rely on my own creativity and imagination to
15:29kind of distract me from maybe not feeling like I belong there did they accept you as you are like
15:35you know when I finally did come out they were like we don't get it yet but we just don't want to
15:43lose you so we're gonna try to figure this out I feel really blessed to be able to have my family in my
15:50life so it makes me want to really push myself to win this for them hello hey how's the team going
16:02I do think the silhouette of this skirt you still have to figure out oh lord this might send me home
16:11I am a technical designer and I am a serious workaholic my family is Jamaican and I've always
16:20been raised with all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're
16:25gonna figure out how to do it that day and do it so I have to push myself because this workout
16:31weekend challenge is taking me out of my comfort zone I really wanted to do something that was
16:37extremely comfortable I think it feels a little too demure I think I made the right decision I was
16:44the one who fought to use this print because Mrs. Joan didn't like it she still doesn't like it okay so
16:49you did it again you wanted a print again everybody wants this print groundbreaking this circle skirt
16:59yeah mm-hmm I can cut a circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes really we're kind
17:06of not the exact same look from the last challenge but you're making a jacket and a jacket and a skirt
17:14a jacket and a skirt let me tell you a little something about Christian Seriano Christian come
17:20in the workroom like are you sure about that or he be walking around like oh okay that little face
17:29be killing me with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped it to the side the top being
17:34fabulous is very important here we should develop this more because you already know you can make a cool
17:39jacket I'm gonna listen to Christian because I know I'm taking a risk but I do not want to be in
17:44the bottom again you got a lot to do I got you okay let's get it I'm kind of going for like that
17:51modern with a little bit of Tron this sash doesn't do anything she couldn't do any athletic things with
17:59this hanging mm-hmm what are all these lines on this so I kind of want to achieve this kind of like
18:07texture all of these lines you're gonna weave the inspirations for this design is the Kalia logo
18:14it's like a twisted string it's like very dynamic what are you doing it's going to be like a more like
18:23athletic fancy corset bustier kind of thing this makes no sense for an athletic look that scares me
18:34athleisure specifically is not something that I normally do unfortunately time is not on our side
18:41in this competition Christian has his doubts about this corset but we're sticking to our guns hmm what
18:49are you doing I am doing an oversized hoodie which I'm thinking about cropping I did the pen tuck in
18:56my hand mm-hmm it's gonna have the same pen tuck in all over the pants as well so you're also doing a
19:03a sweat oversized sweat oversized sweat pant in the same fabric is the pant wide like that wide you
19:11haven't even looked at each other's stuff and she's like right she's right in front of you honestly I
19:16really don't know much about what my team is doing this is it yes it looks very similar I haven't looked
19:23at the other designers on my team I've just been too focused so we just have a wide pant off on the runway
19:30in the same fabric what the like what am I gonna do next I need to think fast and pivot into some
19:37other different silhouette if I don't succeed I'm worried it might put me on the bottom
19:48so I'm looking at Team Lotus and it does not fit the brief that we got so we both have mesh their looks
19:56are looking a little all over the place I think that we're gonna take this one home I look at the
20:01other team it's like crickets in that side of the room no one's really talking to each other and here
20:06we are like you know about a lot and then at night she just puts a glove on honey okay this do this like
20:13we're helping each other yes yes Ethan I hate to tell you but you will be the losing team

20:24this very cool jacket with a pleated skirt that's the top I think so
20:36so how does one do anything athletic in that top I think I'm gonna hit eating it up and it's just
20:47like yeah no are we playing tennis where you tie your arms up if I don't come through with this
20:54brow like I feel like the whole look is gonna go kaput so different when I design on paper and design
21:01on you you trend's pleated skirt it's really short I thought it was a mistake but it's not a mistake
21:09because mama I'm a slut you decided yeah yeah I'm gonna do some nice shorts and then the cargo pockets
21:17that shoe are you nuts what kind of shoe black whoa what
21:23you have no side seam there's no side seam interesting you can do that look at her butt
21:37that's crazy these pants are styled after a Japanese hakama pant where there aren't really
21:45side seams and all of the volume is put into pleats across the back since we're paying homage to
21:52my Japanese ancestress it's really important for me to nail this look that I make and I am feeling
21:59the pressure bye models thank you so much hello oh I have to take this sorry you're gonna be laughing
22:10when that little hem falls out I'm gonna tear it up I'm feeling really good about my look but what
22:16if your team doesn't but after the model fitting I'm feeling a little worried about my team Alex has
22:22these grand ideas but she is running out of time and Angelo's work is looking a little simple if
22:28Jesus kills it then I lost a valuable player I hope that I made the right decision

24:17from workout to weekend you worked in teams and you had only one day to create your collection all right

24:40I'm so excited to see miss Sarah Foster she has a really good head on her shoulders around how to
24:47make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes she's gorgeous okay we're ready let's start
24:52the show it's gonna be flaming hot I wish I had a marshmallow this got flammable hair now wait a
25:00minute I told you it was gonna be hot and I was not talking about Hans and Franz
25:03I do feel like I have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with creating something
25:21that goes from workout to weekend with the pin tuck in the silhouette the styling is really good I'm
25:27feeling really confident she's a professional I'm very proud of this look my look looks very modern sexy
25:38and fun and the red line on the jacket is everything that is a short skirt but she's got some good legs
25:46look at us now I'm just looking at the outfit it's not as bad as I expected it to be but I know what's
25:58going on on the inside this Bessie Bessie I'm not happy about it it could have been worse it could
26:08also been better I like that I would wear that you're very generous oh no with my athleisure look
26:18I'm feeling pretty satisfied I like it I think it's cute it's nothing like really shocking but I am
26:25just elated that the athleisure challenge is in the past she's got it she looks amazing I've worked
26:37hard to achieve that details that those string woven by hand I cut all those holes individually it
26:44takes a lot of work to create that textile I want to make sure that every piece that I make is a labor
26:50of love I don't get that curly hair with that with that side fin it's flowing down the runway it's got
27:00that movement oh it looks so good I would wear that now I may have slayed a little bit too hard
27:07this week so I'm hoping that it can pull this team through to the wind this look it's very universal
27:19this girl can do Pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket on and go have a cocktail with the
27:25office at night I'm proud of myself it would mean a lot to win this challenge and have that collab
27:29with Kalia I'm happy with how this look turned out I feel like it's me and I'm starting to be more
27:42confident in what I'm designing and believe whatever I'm creating is good I see my look coming down the
27:52runway and I'm thinking okay yes even though I didn't choose this fabric I was able to be a team
27:59player and I think that she looks fabulous I love the drama this is the future you better own it I nailed it
28:06my model is looking so everything and then she unzips this jacket and it's just like oh welcome to the party bring out the
28:27tata I took a risk with almost recreating my previous look and I hope this paid off
28:35that's my girl wow like I'm just literally getting chills the way she's walking the way that the pants are
28:46moving how powerful she looks I'm feeling great I could definitely see this in stores and see a lot of
28:53people wanting these pants wanting this bomber even the bag I love this our team everything was executed
29:00beautifully and I think that that showed on the runway you did it go guys we did it I am not worried
29:06about myself but it's hard to tell you know it's two different vibes so I hope that the switch doesn't
