00:00Building a city of the future, easing pressure on the capital, Uzbekistan's urban development strategy is entering a bold new phase.
00:13Hello and welcome to Business Live in Uzbekistan.
00:16The country plans to increase the level of urbanization, which is the role of cities in development, to 60% by 2030.
00:25Today, the population living and working in Tashkent is 5 million.
00:29Therefore, there is a need to construct more than 20,000 apartment buildings, over 40 schools, kindergartens and polyclinics every year.
00:38Given the current pace of urbanization, the population is expected to continue increasing in the coming years.
00:45To this end, as part of the master plan for the city of Tashkent until 2045, the construction of New Tashkent has begun.
00:54According to the plan, New Tashkent will include about 2 million people and it's planned to create 200,000 high-income jobs based on innovative technology in the city.
01:05Let's find the details.
01:07The project, proposed by British architectural company Crossworks, has started east of the city, between the Chirchuk and Karasu rivers.
01:17It's designed for an area of 20,000 hectares.
01:21In the first phase, construction work is already underway on an area of 6,000 hectares.
01:27The destination aims to enhance the quality of life through innovative and inclusive urban development while elevating pressure on the capitalist infrastructure.
01:47The new Tashkent will introduce green corridors and a mixed urban layout inspired by advanced world experience.
02:10We're building artificial canals, parks, green zones, alleys that will be interconnected along the water bodies but also throughout the city so that we can create a microclimate for the city.
02:24Now for the buildings themselves, we have strict requirements on energy efficiency, water efficiency, rainwater collection and reuse.
02:32Arcon is a Turkish company focusing on sustainable and integrated transportation system in New Tashkent.
02:40Their work aims to ensure seamless connectivity and support the long-term mobility needs of the city's growing population.
02:48The metro line which connects New Tashkent City and current Tashkent City is approximately 21 kilometers.
02:56And also inside the city we have tram lines.
02:58We are designing under car parking areas.
03:01People can give their car to this car parking area and they can integrate to public transportation directly.
03:09The New Tashkent project is a blueprint of how a 21st century city should work.
03:15Now let's talk with Mohddin Abrahmatev, head of the Department of the New Tashkent Directorate.
03:21Experts predict that investments in real estate, construction and services in New Tashkent
03:27could make a significant contribution to Uzbekistan's GDP over the next two decades.
03:32Mr. Abrahmatev, can you tell us about the process of attracting investors to the project, please?
