00:05As India celebrates the 79th anniversary of its independence,

00:09the team behind the spiritual sequel to 1997 blockbuster Border have revealed a release date

00:14for the war pick. Through an interactive poster being released today, it's been revealed Border

00:182 will hit cinemas in India on January 22, 2026, four days before the country's annual Republic

00:25Day. Some earlier reports had pegged the release for a day later, January 23. Like Border, which

00:32was set during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, the Hindi language Border 2 will take a hugely

00:37patriotic line. However, the filmmakers aren't calling the new pick a direct sequel as several

00:43elements of the story will be different. Sonny Dayal is seen on the poster in character as a

00:48battle-hardened soldier ripping a bazooka as he gets ready for frontline. We understand he doesn't

00:54play the same role in Border 2 as in the first film. Directed by Udurag Singh, Border 2 will

01:00also star Varun Dhalan, Dilja Dosanj, Ahan Sheki, Medhirana, Mona Singh and Sonambhadra with
