00:00Good morning.
00:01We saw a west-east split with our weather through Saturday and it's going to be very
00:06similar again today.
00:08High pressure dominating the weather pattern at the moment.
00:10It's been pretty gusty over the last 24 hours across south-western parts of England as well
00:15as a keen north-easterly breeze down the east coast where we've seen the cloud stay for
00:20much of the day yesterday.
00:22And very little changing through the course of the day today.
00:25We've got low cloud across eastern England, north-eastern Scotland this morning.
00:29Thick enough for some light rain and drizzle.
00:31But otherwise it's a lovely start today, plenty of hazy sunshine, still breezy right through
00:36today across parts of Cornwall and Devon, gusty around the coast and over the hills.
00:41But otherwise through the day today plenty of sunshine.
00:43The cloud across eastern England tries to lift and break a little but I think just like Saturday
00:48it will remain quite stubborn in places.
00:51So it will be quite cool under this cloud and the cloud lingering across the far north-east
00:55of Scotland too.
00:56So here temperatures generally in the range of 19 to 21 Celsius, so on the chilly side.
01:02But as soon as you come into the sunshine, particularly across central western parts of the UK, we're
01:07looking at temperatures around the mid-20s locally, the high-20s across the west midlands
01:11into parts of Wales here and central southern parts of England too.
01:15So the sunshine is still fairly strong at this time of year.
01:19Into the evening time we see the cloud continue to thicken across the east and slowly then spread
01:24its way westwards as we head overnight.
01:26It's likely to travel further west than we've seen of recent nights.
01:29So many parts becoming cloudy, clearer skies across western Scotland, Northern Ireland,
01:33some western fringes of England and Wales and a greater chance of seeing some light rain
01:38and drizzle from this cloud as well.
01:41So with a bit more cloud around, temperatures may be a little higher tonight compared to the
01:45night just gone, so 14 to 17 Celsius overall and still breezy along some southern, south-western
01:51coast of England.
01:53So a grey start for many on Monday morning, but I'm hopeful as we go through the morning
01:57into the afternoon, the cloud will start to lift and break.
02:00We'll see more in the way of sunny spells developing.
02:03But not everywhere.
02:04We could see the cloud linger, particularly across northern parts of England, eastern parts
02:08of England into Scotland as well.
02:10Through the day it will remain quite grey, one or two light showers are possible.
02:14But otherwise, plenty of dry weather to come.
02:17But the chance of some showers starting to push into the far south-west of England, one
02:21or two of these could be on the heavy side, the odd rumble of thunder is also possible.
02:26And in the sunshine, temperatures will lift towards the mid-20s, maybe not quite as high
02:31as Sunday, 26, 27 Celsius, cool along some eastern coasts still with that breeze just coming
02:37in off the North Sea and the clouds still lingering in places 18 to 21 Celsius here.
02:43And looking at the picture as we move through the week ahead, high pressure generally nearby
02:49or over the UK, so lots of settled weather to come.
02:52There'll be the risk of some showers at times into Tuesday across south-west England, but
02:56plenty of sunny spells across the country.
02:59And temperatures, well, they start above average, particularly across central and southern
03:03parts of the UK.
03:04But as the week goes on, it does turn a little cooler.
03:07Temperature's near, if a little below average, come Thursday.
