00:27No, I read the script and then I read the novel, and I loved it because it was totally unlike anything that I'd done before.
00:34You know, I think the idea of me playing a kind of gritty, you know, anti-hero was appealing.
00:44And more than that, I think I just felt that the film had such a heart and a soul to it,
00:51this relationship between these two characters. I really cared about it, it really moved me,
00:56and I was excited to bring that to the screen.
01:00That's kind of the only thing I really, you know, like that's the thing that matters most, I suppose,
01:05that you engage with and you care about the characters on screen.
01:08Everything else is, you know, a plus, but at the core of it, I just really wanted to spend time with these characters.
01:14You're going to have to do as I say.
01:20Ana Sofia Heger and you are terrific.
01:23Her role is also very intense. How was the dynamic working with her?
01:28Incredible. She is the most uniquely raw, talented young person I've ever met.
01:40You know, she has such humanity and kindness and warmth and empathy.
01:46And I felt instantly very connected to her and I really felt that I learned a lot from her.
01:55I learned a lot from being with her and from being with her wonderful family.
01:59And it was, you know, such a massive privilege to work with a young artist like that who's so new but so capable.
02:11And I, yeah, I just felt very, very lucky to be there with her and to build this relationship.
02:18And I think she brought out a side of me as an actor that I, you know, that I'm really proud of.
02:26I'm really proud of the performances that we both gave.
02:29And, yeah, she's just amazing.
02:34And he's got cops on his payroll.
02:37Both have demanding characters emotionally and physically.
02:43What was your biggest challenge working with her?
02:47I think, for me, the challenge was being able to make sure, to try and support her, you know,
02:59and to be there for her and to make sure that despite all of the hardness and the difficulty
03:07and the danger of the story, that it was something that she enjoyed and that she would have fun.
03:13And that I wanted her to go away being proud of the experience and feel like it was a really positive chapter in her life, you know.
03:20So I think that was the thing that was always at the forefront of my mind, truly.
03:24You know, I really, even now as we're promoting it, I, the thing I want most is for her to feel happy and seen.
03:31And like she's making a great memory, you know, and that it's something that she will carry forward into her other creative endeavors.
03:40And then in terms of just playing the role, you know, I really relished it. I really enjoyed it.
03:46I enjoyed playing Nate enormously. He's a very flawed person, but so am I.
03:50And I liked playing somebody who's a complete fuck up, to be honest, because that's how I feel.
03:56And I think it's nice to, um, it's nice to be able to give a character some redemption who's got so much self-loathing, you know.
04:08Promise.
04:11Promise.
04:12Award.
04:17Gracias por ver el video.
