00:00After days of anticipation, there's no deal.
00:04Donald Trump has walked away from his meeting with Russia's President Putin with very little,
00:09but said progress had been made.
00:11I believe we had a very productive meeting.
00:13There were many, many points that we agreed on, most of them I would say,
00:17a couple of big ones that we haven't quite gotten there, but we've made some headway.
00:24So there's no deal until there's a deal.
00:26The key issue of a ceasefire in Ukraine still looks unlikely after their relatively short summit in Alaska.
00:34While President Vladimir Putin called the conflict a tragedy,
00:37he said they needed to eliminate the primary causes of it for a long-lasting settlement.
00:42He didn't detail what those causes were,
00:45but he did suggest his talk with the U.S. President had yielded some sort of resolution.
00:49I hope that the agreement we have reached together will help us reach our goal
00:54and pave the path to peace in Ukraine.
00:56We expect Kyiv and European capitals will perceive this constructively
01:04and that they won't throw a wrench in the works
01:06or use backroom dealings to torpedo the progress.
01:13Trump says he will make the necessary phone calls to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy
01:17and European leaders who were not invited to the summit.
01:19Despite not being present, some experts believe Europe will play a much bigger role than Putin anticipated
01:25and will allow Ukraine the chance to push back on any Russian demands.
01:30But the Europeans are at the table whether or not Putin wants them to be.
01:37The Europeans have decided to spend an awful lot more, not only on their own defense,
01:42but also on Ukraine's defense.
01:44So much so that the Europeans today are more important
01:49for Ukraine's military capabilities than the Americans.
01:55Speaking to Fox News after the summit,
01:57Donald Trump said he plans to set up a three-way meeting
02:00between him, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
