00:00so if we're if we're looking at the question of what if I'd done this I think the show is the
00:24clearest articulation of these are the options that would happen and so and it's satisfying in the
00:32way Blake just unfolds it he kind of it's a universal human fear of like what if I'd made
00:37the wrong choice and so Blake goes ahead and explores all the elements of like these are the
00:43other options that would be and ultimately comes to the conclusion in in my estimation that
00:50everything does kind of happen for a reason it almost by by by telling us this story he's in
00:56in my opinion he's kind of calming our philosophical dread of like shit should I have done something
01:03else and it answers you with like no but let me show you how devastating and fun all these options
01:11would be and so Ryan shows up to you know articulate to visualize what you're talking about
01:19your path and your consequence what's the last thing you remember before waking up in that
01:23anger I was at a bar the bar yeah by yourself
01:29no no I was with I was with someone who Ryan
01:35Ryan
01:38do you remember how he got the cuts and bruises on your face
01:47yeah someone hit me can you remember who no I don't I don't know how do you not know
01:57where were you Jason I don't I just don't know I don't know what any of this
02:04is the first guy he's things have just made been made smoothly and he's been a winner and so
02:14the result the consequence of that is is uh heightened confidence um an ease with talking
02:22to women uh an ease with just an uh an understanding that he's going to be okay and therefore he can
02:28take care of his best friend it's you know when you're good if you're a good soul you're very inclusive
02:34that's when we're the most generous it's because we're covered so we can cover other people and then
02:39with Ryan 2 he hasn't won he's the same man he was the same man until 24 as Ryan 1 and he has the
02:47same drive and ambition but it wasn't satisfied wasn't met and the result was like well I'll meet
02:53my own satisfaction whether it's a little eating or or just breaking my confidence and taking a smaller
02:58position in a room um and then Ryan 3 was broken before he even had that drive um like locked in in
03:07college he didn't make it there and so that the the similarity the two share the first two share
03:13of like okay we're both should be here one got there one didn't this one doesn't know where he
03:17should be and that that affected him the most to me he's the most different maybe not physically
03:24but he is the most different because he was broken at a at an early age of the idea that he has value
03:30could you talk about Blake uh your mind's eye you know obviously you see these in a certain way and
03:35people see these things but envisioning the world envisioning the corridor envisioning all these
03:40things where's the balance between that the behavior that the characters must exhibit in order
03:46to react to it you know it was a really uh interesting challenge to pull the corridor and
03:53the box together because I had these images in my head as I think many readers did and you know
03:59everyone's is going to be slightly different um what we ultimately ended up doing was saying let's
04:06let's try to stay as true to what was described in the book and we had a great production designer who
04:10came in and helped us to solve that um it was one of those like there's things in the book that we
04:18differed from and made some different choices but I think the box in the corridor design was something
04:23that we always felt let's try to hit the target of the book because we want people to feel like when
04:30they go into it those fans who loved the book we want them to feel at home in the show I don't know
04:34any of these people I haven't seen you in god knows how long I don't know what is going on right
04:42I want to go home just want to go home because I'm freaking freaking out
04:53listen we're gonna get you settled in for the night right now we need to monitor your vitals
04:58tracking progress towards regaining your memories listen I know you probably don't know this but
05:02we missed you
05:05Jason
05:12as an actor you know the whole thing we're talking about is behavior you know it's it's
05:16interesting there's an empathy that runs through all ryan's you know could you talk about looking
05:21at behavior almost as movement and as those little gestures that he does because you see that throughout
05:29some of us are are caretakers and I'm I'm one of them um and it's uh it's it's just how you are
05:35either you're that way or or maybe not or degrees and that's what ryan is he's a caretaker
05:41so ryan one is looking out for his buddy and he wants to bring his success ryan won one here
05:49i won you win two okay and then ryan two is like he doesn't have the he doesn't have that to give
05:57ryan but he has his care to give ryan he has his care to give ryan's wife he has his care to give
06:03those two people and ryan three has no relationship with them but he knows he's you could see right
06:12away ah he's a man who connects he cares and the first time he meets jason he understands okay this
06:19is someone um i can feel safe with and unfortunately he's you know exploited but but yeah it's all the
06:28same man it's the situation and how the situation has has changed his reality um and that was the fun
06:36thing to play the same soul all three completely different life experiences
06:51i don't think
07:12can anyone get through i don't think so it's supposed to stay locked for three minutes
07:18so the timer and uh and then what
07:23we better not be here we you can't you can't come with me they just shot at us just tell
07:34them that i made you that i forced you to he won't make a difference leighton doesn't forgive
07:39joel you were saying the aspect of you know what it takes greatness you know is it love is it you
07:45know it is it ambition what you know those different things but that's all reflected in
07:49human behavior and that's what's great about the different choices you make as jason uh in many
07:55ways uh the jace i don't want to go but as jason um but then alisa you also have to do the same
08:03thing in behavior these little looks little things everything between the lines speaks volumes of
08:08time could you talk about that because that's sort of the bread and butter of you guys as actors
08:14to ground this sort of story well but what do you mean like you mean internal emotions of
08:20yeah and the little details in the scenes like uh when you guys are together in a hotel
08:25that you're close so close but so far away and just the slight thing of on the face
08:30says so much about a moment you know yeah absolutely i think it's it's so well it's so hard to speak
08:37about the show without giving spoilers but it's beautiful in my opinion when i read the script and
08:43when i read the book was how much meeting a person that you thought it was a type of a person but you
08:50meet a different version of this person and that completely changes your world and inspire you to be
08:58a different person or to grow or to follow a different path and i think in a way amanda goes
09:03through that and creating that without being too obvious or too on the face sometimes that's
09:11it when you fall in love with someone you don't show you just feel and i think sometimes given that
09:17doubt it could be interesting so
