00:00We're talking about Rasheed Rice, and this is big news because the Kansas City Chiefs who got
00:03wasted by the Philadelphia Eagles looking to come back this season, much healthier at the
00:07wide receiver position and more weapons here. One of those weapons is Rasheed Rice coming off
00:12of an injury, but now also possibly for a suspension. Adam Schefter tweeted yesterday,
00:17ESPN sources, Chiefs wide receiver Rasheed Rice is expected to have his disciplinary hearing
00:22with the NFL on Tuesday, September 30th in New York. This means that Rice now is likely to be
00:26able to play the first four weeks of this season before any potential discipline is imposed for
00:31his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 season. So we know he's probably going to
00:37get suspended, Joe. September 30th is the hearing. Now, a lot of people work for the NFL. There's not
00:44an overwhelming about, like we talk like the criminal justice system. We have 30,000 cases
00:51we got to get to before yours. I'm pretty sure the NFL doesn't have this. We knew Rasheed Rice got in
00:56trouble since 2024 in that car wreck. Why are we still waiting? And also from a Chiefs perspective,
01:02you're going to have this hearing during the season? Like the kid's going to play three,
01:05four weeks and has anybody gone for five or six weeks? How can this happen? And why doesn't this
01:09hearing happen over the summer, Joe? It's simple to me. Well, let's deconstruct it. You ready?
01:16First question I would ask Donnie is, what are the first four games exactly for the Kansas City
01:22Chiefs this season? Oh, let's see. Well, they go to San Paolo, Brazil to take on the Chargers in game
01:29one. Okay. So he'll be there for that. Then they got week two at home against the champion Philadelphia
01:35Eagles who wiped them across the field last year. Then it's a Sunday night football game, big primetime
01:42game against the Giants. And then they're at home against the Baltimore Ravens, a team they likely
01:48might face in the playoffs again, as usual. So, yeah, there's a four pretty important games if I'm
01:55Kansas City that I don't want to start on four. So I want to go ahead and give myself the best chance
02:01of winning. And well, Rasheed Rice, like it or not, he's a game changer for them and he will be available
02:07for those games. It is interesting. Like if you were though, let's just say you're Andy Reid,
02:12you're Brett Veach, the NFL comes to him to say, look, we can delay this a little bit. Or would
02:16you rather understand exactly right now what you have for the first four games and then be able
02:21to move on from that when it's done? Because for me, player and also coach and organization,
02:26I'd rather have that suspension start. I've got to be honest, one through four games. It's almost
02:30like you made a trade and you get him back. Like if you build that rhythm and training camp and the
02:34first four games and then it's taken away, like, yes, other guys will have to step up. We get that.
02:38But it's almost like you want that momentum to start and do nothing, Joe, but gain throughout
02:43the rest of the season. Because Rasheed Rice is not a seven-year all-pro player. It's like, yeah,
02:46I'm just going to pick it right up. Flashes, injury, now suspension, some choppy mix to his early
02:53career. I would just like to see him sat down for the first four games and then play if I'm Andy Reid.
02:58Well, it's interesting the timing of all of this, right? Because he was just
03:03sentenced last month, right? So about three weeks ago that we finally learned that it's five years
03:10probation, 30 days in jail. So we know that that handled. But the NFL never makes a decision on
03:17suspensions until everything is settled in the courts and the legal matter. So now that that is
03:24finally done, now they can put it on the docket for the same woman, I believe, who's going to overhear
03:30this? A former U.S. District Judge, Sue L. Robinson, and whatever her schedule, apparently, maybe that
03:37was the first opening. But she's the same one that overheard the Deshaun Watson case, which is what,
03:43three, four years ago now? So they don't have a ton of these. So apparently this was the first
03:49available opportunity for them to be able to get in front of her.
03:52So from there, if you're going to work for them, who's going to put it on for them to be able to get into a
03:58environment, what they're going to be able to get to be able to get to be able to get to be able to.
04:01And so that's just for people who have to get them to the next level of time.
04:03And so for them, I think, I'm pretty sure they'll have a ton of time to get the
04:09charges. So if you're going to try to go ahead and see how to get up, then I'll just get the
