BJP slams Rahul Gandhi for skipping Independence Day event at Red Fort

The BJP has criticised Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for skipping the Independence Day celebrations, saying his absence sends a negative message and reflects a lack of commitment to national events.

01:03Well, Sirsha, at the moment we don't have any response coming in from the Congress party.

01:08The BJP, however, is asking Rahul Gandhi, who is the leader of the opposition in North Sabah,

01:12actually was missing from the Independence Day celebrations that took place at the Red Fort.

01:16Sirsha, it's important to add that we have seen how the top leaders of the opposition,

01:19especially the Gandhi family, including Malik Arjun Kharki, who is the Congress President,

01:23they have not been attending for quite some time the celebrations at the Red Fort.

01:26And now we are seeing BJP's Amit Mahal, we are now asking a question and saying

01:31that at the Congress headquarter event, one could very clearly see that Rahul Gandhi did take part.

01:37But why did he not come when there was an invitation that was being sent out?

01:41He said he was the leader of the opposition, should have been present at the celebrations that took place at the Red Fort.

01:46Aishwarya, any feelers, any statements so far from the Congress on why Rahul Gandhi was absent at Red Fort?

01:53Well, at the moment, you know, we are still awaiting some official response coming in from the Congress party.

01:58The Congress party is mum.

01:59Aishwarya, at the moment, with regards to why the Rahul, why the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi, was not present.

02:04But yes, this is not the first time we are seeing the top leaders from the opposition,

02:07despite getting an invitation, not attending these kind of functions.

02:12Last year also, we did see how those chairs, which were kept for the opposition leaders, they were empty.

02:16And this time also Rahul Gandhi, despite being the leader of the opposition,

02:20was absent from the Independence Day celebrations in Red Fort.
