00:00A restaurant is like an engine and every single part of it has to function
00:05together. I think it is our duty to be able to provide for you know the people
00:12that continue come through every single day you know our community of people
00:16spend moments and create moments here with us. That for me is like greatest
00:21parts about this job is that you give them a little spark of joy in their
00:24lives. We are just two individuals who had a vision and hope and a dream. My name
00:30is Chef Edgar Rico. I'm the chef and co-owner here at Nixta Taqueria. I'm Sarah
00:35Martin Biggie. I'm the other half of Nixta as the co-owner and running the
00:39operations here in Austin, Texas. Got your back!
00:47Edgar and I met at a local catering company. He was the event chef so we made
00:53the googly eyes at each other. Long story short we said I love you after two
00:57weeks. Best decision I've ever made in my life you know.
01:01October 5th 2019 is the day we opened the restaurant. You know it wasn't supposed to
01:06be the thing that it has become and evolved into. There was a lot of kind of
01:14hype behind this even though we had no PR marketing agency or anything like that
01:19just kind of naturally and organically through Instagram and social media. The
01:24moment we opened up doors, a line around the block, at that moment you're just like
01:30start your engines and let's see what happens.
01:33So the reason why we started using Square is I know that there's a lot of
01:39different things you have to do as a business owner. A lot of hats you have to
01:42wear and the thing that I really genuinely love about Square is kind of it's a
01:46one-stop shop so you can do your payroll. All the tips get integrated whether you
01:52want to do it by hours, if you want to tip them in different ways, you can do all
01:57your scheduling on there. Team members can input their availability, they can
02:01swap shifts, they can put in time off requests, you're able to do inventory on
02:06there. I've noticed overall with Square is that it's very nimble so as things are
02:11happening it also changes. During the pandemic they switched to an online model
02:15where we could do deliveries and pick up which was essential. I say the biggest
02:20thing that the pandemic taught us was it really allowed us to nail our systems
02:25down and really find our rhythm. You've got an idea and a dream for any
02:31entrepreneur that wants to get into the game you can be up and running and one
02:34day you can get going in that moment in time. Square is that platform that
02:40elevated us to be able to have a level of service that we potentially weren't
02:45able to offer beforehand. So it gives you just a better day of how your day is
02:51gonna go in terms of like planning that out for menu development, for costing. At
02:56the end of the day for us it kept us alive, it kept us as a business just still
03:01relevant. Square has been the most user-friendly and on the technical side
03:06just really comprehensive and if there ever is an issue I have a specific rep who
03:12talks to me immediately and can help course correct as needed. It's okay to
03:17ask for help and they've got your back. If you take that time to listen with your
03:24neighbors, with your friends, with the people around you and to genuinely try your
03:30best, people will come through. The community will have your back. People want
03:36to help you, people want to rally around to really see your dream come to fruition.
