00:00Hello and welcome to your national Janesweather update for Friday. We have got a strong system that is barrelling towards the southeast, otherwise clear skies across most of Queensland right through to the southwest.
00:11But this in through here, there is lots of speckled cloud that is over the bite. Speckled cloud indicates very cold air. We're about to be breathing air that has come up from near Antarctica.
00:21So we are set for a cold and wintry weekend ahead. Here is the cold front now running through the southeast there. It has got a band of showers tending to rain and we've got some damaging winds ahead of that, mainly about elevated areas.
00:34So let's have a look at what we can expect for today. In the left hand corner, that is the day we're here. Here is our cold front by the end of it through the southeast.
00:42There was all that chilly air in behind it. And we're looking at perhaps one to two millimetres, two to five millimetres in Tasmania, seeing more 10 to 15 and 15 to 25 about that west coast.
00:53Otherwise, just a tiny bit of activity is left for the east coast there. And nothing's happening in the west as there is high pressure over the top.
01:00So that's for Friday. Let's have a look at Saturday. All of this still moving through the southeast.
01:05And then here is the next weather system with a cutoff low that is to the west of Tasmania, south of Adelaide there by the end of Saturday.
01:13That is another surge of cold air that is going to come through and wet weather associated with that too.
01:18So let's watch where that is going to go. Here we are by Saturday. Let's have a look at Sunday.
01:23This is now likely to move across western parts of Victoria, southeastern parts of South Australia and western parts of New South Wales on its way up,
01:32taking a bit of a detour and not going across eastern Victoria or much of Tasmania.
01:37So this one is taking a route now that is moving more of an inland one rather than a coastal one as it comes in.
01:43So there we are on Sunday. There's some very cold air with that one extending right up into southern Queensland.
01:48So as we move through Monday, there is all of that wet weather coming in.
01:52Next high pressure system moving into the southeast, calming things down.
01:56Now this will be a New South Wales and southern Queensland system.
01:59So I'll drag your eyes over to here for the moment. Then we'll revisit what's happening in the west.
02:03So here we are by the end of Monday with some big falls coming to the Sydney coast there.
02:08Heading into Tuesday, all of this wet weather moving in through here.
02:11We've got this kind of like a line that is coming down the east coast in through there.
02:16So that is that's a trough and it just enhances the wet weather for the coast.
02:19So there we are by Tuesday. Here we have Wednesday. Here we have Thursday.
02:24It just keeps on going because we've got that high moving out to the east, clearing things for the southeast and producing that trough that is right on the coast there to just keep that wet weather coming.
02:34So that continues pretty much all through next week.
02:36Let's now have a look over in the west to see what's happening there.
02:39On Monday, it starts to get going again.
02:42High pressure has now moved to the east.
02:43So we're ready to get some more wet weather moving into the west.
02:46As we go into Tuesday, there is that weather system, 25 to 50 millimetres as it comes through.
02:52A feed of tropical moisture. Let's have a look at that.
02:55There it is coming in on Wednesday.
02:57So those falls extending well inland, the cold front here by the end of the day.
03:02Into Thursday, still going.
03:04And by Friday, that may start to reach the southeast.
03:07Let's have a look at those totals as it comes across.
03:10So the east coast here and just inland to the ranges, 25 to 50 millimetres, 50 to 75 right along that coastline.
03:17There could be some pockets that pick up 100 to 150 millimetres.
03:21That is as it moves through next week.
03:23So not really on the weekend, more of a southeastern feature.
03:26So on the weekend, we're now looking at 10 to 15 millimetres, moving right up into the Mallee here.
03:31You've got that in these parts of southeast South Australia.
03:34Not as much in Tasmania as that second one moves inland.
03:37And we've got this coming through here, 10 to 15, 5 to 10, 1 to 5 millimetres.
03:42So that's as it crosses the southeast on the weekend and then dries up early next week.
03:46In the southwest, 25 to 50, locally falls 50 to 75.
03:51Another big burst that comes through next week, extending inland 15 to 25, 10 to 15 millimetres as this comes through.
03:57So first in the southeast across the weekend.
04:00Then it is an east and a west thing while the southeast takes a break after Monday.
04:05That's it for me.
