00:00Can I just start by asking you, how optimistic are you about that summit between President Trump and President Putin in Alaska on Friday?
00:07What do you think can be achieved?
00:08Tom, I think everything's on the table at the moment.
00:11But I think we have to recognise that the only person that needs to walk away from this with a deal is President Trump.
00:19President Putin right now is doing pretty well in eastern Ukraine on the ground.
00:25He really just wants to get any suggestion there'll be secondary sanctions or any further provision of armaments to Ukraine stalled in the short term.
00:38That's what he wants to achieve. And that's the threat that President Trump can hang over him.
00:43But frankly, President Putin can walk away with nothing achieved at this summit.
00:48President Trump, as I said, is the one that needs to deliver something.
