00:00hello and welcome back today sonia and i are taking a deep dive literally into the lesser
00:13known parts of our oceans to meet some incredibly bizarre and unpopular creatures forget about your
00:18sharks and dolphins the real wonders are hidden sonia ready to get weird oh i'm always ready for
00:24an adventure deepak especially when it involves uncovering hidden gems the ocean is so vast
00:29i'm sure there are so many creatures we barely know about let's see what incredible life forms are
00:34down there all right let's start with a creature that looks like it came straight out of a sci-fi
00:39movie the anglerfish anglerfish i think i've seen a picture or two with that weird light what makes
00:44them so unpopular or strange well they live in the darkest parts of the deep sea they have a
00:49bioluminescent lure that dangles from their head which they use to attract prey in the pitch black
00:55the female can be 10 times larger than the male and the male actually fuses himself onto the female
01:00becoming a permanent parasitic partner just for reproduction wow that's quite a commitment
01:05living in total darkness and having such unique mating rituals talk about extreme adaptations
01:10that's fascinating okay how about something that's almost invisible you're thinking of the glass squid
01:16also known as the crunchy askebra as the name suggests it's almost entirely transparent a transparent
01:22squid that sounds amazing why would an animal evolve to be see-through their transparency is a
01:27form of camouflage in the dimly lit deep sea it makes it incredibly difficult for predators to spot
01:32them against the faint light from above imagine trying to catch something you can barely see that's
01:36brilliant nature truly has the best camouflage techniques it's like living art here's another
01:41master of disguise but much closer to the surface the leafy sea dragon oh i've seen pictures of those
01:47they look like a mythical creature or maybe a piece of seaweed that's come alive they're so beautiful
01:52they are native to the waters of australia they have these incredible leaf-like appendages all over
01:57their bodies they're not fins but extensions that help them perfectly blend in with the seaweed and kelp
02:02forests they live in they're slow moving so camouflage is their primary defense that's just stunning to
02:08imagine it's like nature's living sculpture they are definitely more beautiful than popular okay
02:13give me something really weird something that just defies what we expect you got it the blobfish
02:17it's probably one of the most infamously unpopular creatures because of its appearance oh the one
02:23that looks like a grumpy melting face what's its story exactly the blobfish lives in incredibly deep
02:28waters off the coasts of australia and new zealand where the pressure is immense at that depth its body
02:34is perfectly adapted it's gelatinous less dense than water allowing it to float just above the sea
02:40without expending much energy when brought to the surface the pressure change causes it to lose its
02:46shape and appear blob-like so its normal form is actually quite different it's just a victim of
02:52being brought out of its natural habitat poor thing these creatures are just a tiny peek into the
02:56incredible diversity and mystery of our oceans there's truly so much more to explore and understand
03:02beneath the waves absolutely deepak every time we talk about marine life i realize how little we know
03:07about our own planet it's fascinating we hope you enjoyed this journey into the deep if you're as
03:12amazed by the ocean's hidden wonders as we are please like this video share it and subscribe for more
03:17amazing discoveries thank you for watching and keep exploring see you next time
