00:00As a studio we've been loving these Far Eastern layered gardens coming through

00:05in wallpapers and wall murals. Yeah we knew we wanted to create our own

00:10interpretation but we wanted to put our own stamp on it and at the time just

00:16weren't quite sure what direction to take that. It took over a year before it

00:21kind of clicked into place and the idea came out where we wanted to actually pay

00:26a homage to Yorkshire, the place where we grew up as a family. It gave us the

00:30opportunity to create something personal to us. Yorkshire is renowned for having

00:37beautiful landscapes and full of character and rolled into one it we thought

00:42would be perfect for a wall mural. It also gave us license to be quite playful with

00:48the elements we decided to include such as animals and barge boats to viaducts and

00:53buildings to even more nuanced things like stepping stones that evoked memories

00:59of us crossing their stream as kids and where one of us would have inevitably

01:04fallen in. All of which started to feel like we're almost creating a modern-day

01:09tapestry with this design. So this influenced how we're going to tackle it

01:15stylistically. Yeah and I'd stumbled across this technique and we all kind of decided

01:22that it felt right for Toots Hill and it was basically quite naive but also felt

01:29archival and it was full of mark making and mixed media to create lots of interest and

01:36it just kind of worked. Yeah and across this kind of sprawling landscape we we

01:40wanted to explore lots of tones of one colour didn't we? Yes. All these mix of

01:45mediums you use as being the artist in this design. It just really lended itself to

01:51create this kind of really lush interesting landscape. Yes and I think that's why it

01:55is fitting for a mural because it is cosy, comforting and familiar which is

02:01exactly what you want out of an interior. So it's come full circle really which is

02:06nice you know. I think it really embodies the soul of Yorkshire.
