00:00A Bersatu leader has been slammed for linking the appointment of Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation

00:06Department Director M. Kumar to DAP's Malaysian-Malaysia concept.

00:11DAP's Central Executive Committee member, Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali, said Badrul Hisham

00:17Shaharin was questioning Kumar's appointment based purely on his ethnicity, which risked

00:22destroying national unity.

00:24In a Facebook post, the former Palo Assemblyman said the incident showed that Badrul did not

00:29appreciate the service and contributions of non-Malays in the country.

00:34He added that the federal constitution provided all citizens with the opportunity to serve

00:38the country, while posts in the civil service, including the police force, should be filled

00:43based on merit.

00:45Kumar officially took over as federal CID chief on August 8th, replacing Shuhayli Zain, who

00:51was transferred to lead the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency.

00:55However, on August 12th, Badrul posted a delayed congratulatory post to Kumar on his appointment,

01:01saying this shows that Malaysia has started to embrace the Malaysian-Malaysia concept, which

01:06has been closely associated with DAP and its leaders since its founding in 1966.

01:13He also said that if the concept continued to be accepted by the government, Malaysia could

01:17soon have its first non-Bumiputra chief justice, armed forces chief, inspector general of police,

01:24and even prime minister.
