Hear from a group of budding Warrnambool runners heading to the 2025 Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships.

00:00Thanks for joining us boys. Can you introduce yourself and how long you've been running for?
00:05I'm Harrison Watson and I'm running in the Boys Under 13 3k event at the National Cross Country.
00:14I'm Bo Morrison and I'm also running in the Under 13 3k event in Nationals.
00:21I'm John Davies and I'm running in the Under 12 3k event and also a team event.
00:31I'm Elfie Hall and I'm running in the Under 12 300 3k event National and Ritual Country.
00:39My name is Jansen and I'm running in the WK National Cross Country.
00:45Excellent. And how long have you been racing for?
00:48I think since I was about, let's go maybe 7 or 8 and running.
00:59I've been running for about 3 or 2 years.
01:03I've been running for about a year and a half.

01:14And what are your expectations this week at the Championships?
01:18Hopefully I can get maybe a top 15, top 10 finish.
01:23I hope that I can also get a top 10.

01:29Yeah, top 20 as well. Top 15.
01:33And what do you enjoy about cross country running?
01:37I think I like about how challenging it can sometimes be and the weather can always be different and it can also, the terrains are like a mix.
01:50I don't really like too much but I have two things I really like.
01:57How there's always different tracks and it's just hard.
02:03It takes you to new places.
02:06You get to go to different places and you get to run.
02:09And you get to see different parts of Victoria and Australia.
02:16Excellent.
02:17And do you guys do any other athletics?
02:19If so, what other aspects do you do?
02:22Yeah, I do track and field so like 1500 and 800.
02:28I do track and field 15, 8 and a bit of high jump.

02:42And you guys come here every week, is that right?
02:45Yeah, every week so.

02:47And what's that been like?
02:48How important has that been for your training?
02:50Yeah, training's always amazing.
02:52We catch up.
02:53We've got a great coach that can always give us either tough sessions or sessions that suit
02:58the week.
02:59So.
03:00Yeah, training's just great.
03:01We get to come every Wednesday, catch up with all of our friends, put some hard work
03:07in there.
03:08Yeah, it's really fun like meeting your friends every week.

03:21It's good because you just get to see if we're going to do some of them.
