In a video released on social media on Aug. 12, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) slammed the Trump administration’s immigration agenda after visiting a federal detention center.

00:00So there are a lot of concerns about Trump's immigration policies, which has a goal of arresting 3,000 people a day nationwide.
00:11And these are not violent criminals who are being scooped up.
00:14We've seen the videos of people literally being taken off the streets by ICE agents who do not identify themselves.
00:22So lots of concerns.
00:24A million people that he wants to deport every year.
00:28So I visited the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu that is making preparations to house almost 250 ICE detainees.
00:39And I wanted to make sure what the facilities would be like.
00:43It's clean, all of that from what I saw.
00:45But let's face it, these policies are cruel.
00:49They're creating fear and chaos throughout our immigrant community.
00:53And he is not just deporting the violent criminals, which is what he said he would do.
00:59And so, believe me, we're going to follow this.
