00:00Australia's Prime Minister has accused Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu of being in denial over humanitarian situation in Gaza.
00:08This follows Anthony Albanese's announcement on Monday that Australia will soon recognize a Palestinian state.
00:15I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu. He again reiterated to me what he has said publicly as well,
00:25which is to be in denial about the consequences that are occurring for innocent people.
00:33Albanese said on Tuesday that Netanyahu government's reluctance to listen to its allies contributed to Australia's decision.
00:41Canberra will recognize a Palestinian state at next month's United Nations General Assembly,
00:46following similar moves by the UK, France and Canada.
00:49But the recognition will be conditional on assurances from the Palestinian Authority that Hamas will have no role in any future state.
00:58Israel, under pressure to end the war, had said such recognition rewards terrorism,
01:03while denying reports of a worsening humanitarian crisis and starvation in the street.
