00:00Now, before we get started and enjoy a lovely conversation with all three of you,
00:05I request all of you to take over to get somebody to agree to play the villain in his film.
00:10What made you do it? What made you say yes?
00:13First, let me say hi to everybody.
00:16Hi, hi, hi, hi.
00:18Why did I play a villain? I was always playing good, playing the goodie all the time.
00:24It was getting a little boring, so I thought, let me play the baddie.
00:28Did you enjoy it?
00:29Yes, completely. Very liberating.
00:32But did you say okay easily or did you make him work for it?
00:36Did you make Lokesh work for it or did you say okay easily?
00:39No, of course I made Lokesh work for it.
00:41I had to make sure that I was doing the right thing, playing bad.
00:46So I made Lokesh work for it.
00:49How many meetings did it take?
00:51Almost seven to eight meetings before he convinced me.
00:54Fair enough.
00:55Fair enough.
00:56And we're really looking forward to seeing Nagsah play the baddie, right?
01:01I mean, we can't wait.
01:02Well, I enjoyed it.
01:04Shruti, I watch a lot of your interviews because I'm an absolute fan of your candor.
01:09And just the way you answer everything straight from the heart.
01:14So in one of your interviews recently, you said that, can I just say that I'm Kamal Haasan's daughter, but now I'm a Rajini fan.
01:20What was the moment?
01:28Tell me that moment you became a Talibar fan.
01:31See, my daddy is always my number one with a, you know.
01:34So I unconditionally love Appa, but I'm a Rajini fan now, so that's the balance.
01:44Rajini, sir, fan.
01:45Sorry.
01:46So it's brilliant, but can you pick up that one moment where you're like, sir, I'm your fan, sir.
01:51I've become a pandor.
01:52No, I mean, his aura is only like that the minute you encounter him for the first time, you're like, whoa, okay.
01:58This is like powerhouse, full on.
02:01But I think it was when I had like a really close, close up with him, and I was seeing his face like up close.
02:07I was like, oh my God, that is Rajini, sir.
02:11Those eyes.
02:13Yeah, just everything.
02:15Fabulous.
02:15Ani, I want to just take you back in time to a few days ago.
02:19I was just watching Talibar's speech in the audio launch, and he said,
02:24Ani is the most eligible bachelor in the whole of Southeast Asia.
02:31I actually struck out my first question.
02:33Look, I struck out my first question to you.
02:35I want to ask you about this.
02:36Has he mentioned anything about this to you in private, and what is your initial reaction?
02:41Good evening, everyone.
02:43Southeast Asia.
02:44Southeast Asia.
02:46Southeast Asia, the most eligible bachelor.
02:48That's what I said, Southeast Asia.
02:49Good evening to everybody who's come here.
02:53Thank you for coming.
02:55For all the people from there,
02:59Thank you.
03:04This feels like Chennai, so thank you.
03:08Thank you, Bhavna.
03:08Yes, no, he's never brought it up with me.
03:12I think he decided to say it on stage, because he knows that I'll get awkward if he says it to me in person.
03:17But I was taken aback, you can see my expression.
03:20But yeah, but more than anything, I think it's just the love that I share for him, just like everybody over here.
03:29So, we're really excited for this film, it's probably the first time we're having an event like this, so thank you, Spotify, for doing this for Kooli.
03:39And everybody knows, generally, when I really like a film that we're working on, I'll generally use to tweet with cups and fires.
03:48As I said in the audio launch, ten cups and ten fires for Kooli.
03:57I know there is a lot of expectation, too much of hype, we've never faced this in our lifetime, in our career, small career.
04:07But I'm telling you, you guys will surely enjoy this film, Kooli is going to be a blast for sure.
04:14I'm sure that's ten out of ten percent true or hundred out of hundred percent true, Ani.
04:20I love how you just swerved through that question I asked, just like how you swerved through your BGM and just moved beautifully from lyrics to music.
04:29Fabulous, but I still have a few more questions.
04:32I'm learning from you.
04:33I'll take that as a huge compliment, Ani.
04:36Naksa, talk to us about what sort of villain will we get to see you play in the film?
04:43Are you a villain who enjoys a little bit of comedy, are you a villain that dances a bit, are you a straight-up baddie with a lot of gore and violence?
04:52Well, it's a straight-up baddie role, straight-up baddie.
04:59There's no reason or rhyme why I am bad.
05:06He's the kind of person, if this is his room, he does exactly what he wants.
05:11It's his kingdom, he doesn't give a damn about anybody.
05:14And that's why I enjoyed the role, there was no inhibitions, nothing to hold back.
05:21And yeah, and I had Anirudh backing me up with his music behind, yes.
05:29We're waiting to listen to the BGM for him, the particular song for him, right?
05:34And that's something that I think is going to blow our socks off.
05:37But having said that, talk to us about your collaboration with Ani, this is the first time you're working in a film that Anirudh is composed of music for.
05:43Yes, this is the first time I've been dying and waiting and working, and just like Lokesh and Anirudh, I think I manifested that they come, I work with them, actually.
05:56So, and that's how, it was fantastic working, and just like you told me what kind of role I was playing, he made a BGM for me, it's called I'm the Danger.
06:08That's yours. Okay, so that OST is for him. Now we've confirmed it, because we were not sure who it was for, now we've confirmed it.
06:16So, the OST for I'm the Danger is for Nagsah. We've gotten our confirmation.
06:21Ani, what was your first reaction when you saw Nagsah on screen playing this very different role?
06:27So, you know, as a music director, you always want to work with all the legends,
06:36and for Nagsah, when I saw him on the screen, we were blown, because just the aura that he brought to the screen and when we saw the footage,
06:44I'm sure you guys are going to enjoy his character. The first time I met him recently, I told him, sir,
06:50we really love what you've done to this film, sir, and it's going to be really memorable for sure.
06:55And Nagsah, I always wanted to do a film for him. It just so happened that it happened in Coolie, thanks to Lokesh.
07:04Thank you, sir, for accepting to do the film. So, I think, yeah, it's a wonderful starrcast with a wonderful…
07:11one of the most-wanted directors in the country with Talaivu's film, and his 50th year also. So, this is…
07:20In his 50th year, for us to be part of the film which is releasing, apparently 50 years ago, on August 14th, his first film came out.
07:31So, 50 years later, Coolie is coming. So, for us to be part of it, we are really blessed. Of course, it also…
07:37everything is added to it, with Naag, sir, being part of it, with Upendra, sir, being part of it, with Satyaraj, sir, with Shruti,
07:46she's delivered a wonderful performance as well, probably the best in our career. So, I'm…
07:51We are really excited for this film, and yeah, just waiting to watch the first day for show, actually.
07:56Absolutely. So are we. Shruti, it must have been really empowering to do a role like this,
08:03where you're the solo female actor among so many powerhouses and legends. What is the one thing that will surprise us,
08:11and what can we take away from your character?
08:14So, there is a very strong feminine quotient in the film as you watch it also. It's not just me.
08:21And I really, really enjoyed that. What I loved about playing Preeti is, I think, not just the women,
08:28a lot of people will feel like they can relate to her. Everyone has a Preeti in their home, you know, in their life.
08:36And that is something that I really enjoyed.
08:39Naak, sir, talk to us about one day or one moment in the shoot that you will take with you throughout your life.
08:47Like this unforgettable moment. Now you can give us some Easter eggs. We're just less than 72 hours away from the release.
08:53One moment that you will tell your children about, your grandchildren about from this film.
08:58I definitely don't want to tell my grandchildren about this role. It's too bad. It's too bad.
09:07Yeah. But yes, working with Rajini, sir, was fantastic. Something I will take it back home.
09:16It was just fantastic working with him. That man at the charisma, the aura, what he creates on set.
09:23It is just outstanding. And it was very nice that he helped me with Tamil dialogues.
09:32Yeah, he helped me and we're very nice of him. And he said, Naak, it would be nice if you do like this.
09:39So it is fantastic. This is what I'll take back home. And of course, the experience was outstanding.
09:46Though I've said this, I played the most negative role, but the experience was the most positive.
09:54Beautiful. Lovely. I think that's something that we're all really looking forward to.
09:58And your camaraderie with Rajini, sir, something that he also speaks about very often.
10:02So that was lovely to see. But Shruti, talk to me about just working with this set of people.
10:09I've seen in a lot of other interviews from the cast members who say that Shruti was very keen on this role
10:15and this particular experience of working with Rajini, sir. Tell me why.
10:19So never in this lifetime that I even like visualize or think, oh, I must do a film with Rajini, sir.
10:27It was never something that I even considered. So when Lokesh came to me with this, it was already a dream come true.
10:35And then as the cast kept growing and people like Nag, sir, and then Satirat, sir, Shauvin, sir, Amir, sir, it was Upendra, sir, like the list goes on and on.
10:46It's truly for me as an actor moment where, yeah, it sounds cliche, but it really was a great learning experience, truly, as well as the fact that there was just so much good energy all around.
11:00Everyone was so diligently working on their parts and they were so passionate about it. And I think that credit goes to our director for being able to pull everything together so positively and successfully.
11:13Beautiful. Ani, you've been speaking about Heisenberg and we've all been scratching our heads wondering who this individual is. If you had to dedicate one line, that'll give us a small clue as to who he is.
11:27One line from a song in Cooley to him. What would that line be? Guys, let's listen closely, okay?
11:34See, see, Heisenberg was a person which me and Lokesh will, I think we will take it to the grave who Heisenberg is. But yeah, he's very talented, I must say that. He's very talented and all the songs that he's worked on for us in our combination,
12:02have worked out really well, including mobster and I am the danger now for Naagsah. So, yeah, I think we should keep that a secret. No, that's only for us to know.
12:15Okay, at least tell me what Alela Polema means. Come on.
12:20So, when I was working on the teaser, when I was just singing the lines, you know, I go a little crazy inside my studio, I'll just be blabbering and you know, shouting and stuff like that.
12:30So, when that line came, I was just like, Alela Polema, Alela Polema, Ale!
12:36And I sent it to Lokesh and I thought he's going to be like, what does that mean? Put the lyrics there or something.
12:43He's like, my favorite part of the teaser is Alela Polema. So, that is the kind of vibe that we share. So, it was just a very random gibberish thought that came, that's it.
12:52If you had to give it a meaning, let's ask all three of them. If you had to give…
12:56Apparently, in Greek, it means something I saw online. In Greek, it means we are ready to fight. But I didn't plan…
13:03We're ready to fire, yeah.
13:05Yeah, we're ready to fight. That's what it means in Greek. But I don't know Greek and it just… it's just very random, that's it.
13:13That's fair. But if you had to give it a meaning, your own twist on Alela Polema, what do you think it would be?
13:19I think… I think coolie is ready to fight at the box office and win.
13:25Love it, love it, Inaqsa.
13:28Come on, let's have some fun.
13:31Are all ready to have fun on the 14th of August, yes or no?
13:36Okay, this question is for all three of you. If you had to… if you could rather take something from the coolie set,
13:44steal something from the coolie set, what would it be and why?
13:48I would steal Lokesh Kanakaraj .
13:58Then I'll steal sun pictures .
14:03I'll steal Spotify . No, but what I would… I'm seriously saying in these… it's been only thirteen years since and about thirty-four films that we've done.
14:15This is probably the best experience that we've had and the kind of… and the kind of vibe and the positivity that we get from the whole team, from all the legends that are part of this film.
14:26And just the whole… this past one and a half years have been magical. Yesterday, we finished the final mix and me and Lokesh put our usual photograph that was in Sir's studio only in Annapurna.
14:38So when we put that photo, it was a very emotional moment, I must admit because it's been a wonderful journey and I'm really not being a part of this film or the music director of this film.
14:48As a fan, I'm ready to watch this film on 14th. Yeah.
14:52You mentioned Spotify which is why I wanted to definitely ask you.
14:56You have the largest following on Spotify compared to your other social media accounts which is a lot as well.
15:01Twenty-one million and counting. Come on guys, this deserves bigger whistles and sound.
15:08It's… it's all… it's all you guys. Thank you. Love you all. Thank you. It's all you guys. Thank you.
15:14No, no, but how do you manage it? You have these albums coming in thick and fast. How challenging is it? And do you get any sleep at all?
15:20I'm sure a lot of them have asked you this question but I really want to know. What does your mum say?
15:26So, yeah, I mean, we haven't slept well in a while but I must say that every minute that we've been working on this film has been very enjoyable, number one.
15:37Number two, the adrenaline really kept us going. It's been sleepless, I must admit, but at the same time we enjoyed working on this product so much, on this film, scoring for this film, the background score, the OST, the songs.
15:50So, we know that we can't get this time back, right, in life. So, we just wanted to live it to the fullest and we really… I think we're going to miss these times and I hope…
16:00I hope this film does really well and there is a coolie too which happens also. So, I just… I hope… I hope this film is loved by everybody. So, yeah, it's been a great experience.
16:13So, the lack of sleep or… we didn't even feel it even for a second, yeah.
16:18So, you've spent sleepless nights for timeless memories. So, let's make sure that those memories are certainly worth it which we will as fans, yeah. We'll give this film a whole lot of love.
16:29Now, we've got some quick games that we'd like to play with you, yeah. These are pretty rapid. So, the first game is who's most likely to?
16:36Okay, so I'll ask you a few questions and you can just give me names. Who's most likely to? Likely to do A, likely to do B. So, who's most likely in a set to forget their lines?
16:47Who's most likely to know the answer you can trip in, like if you've seen?
16:50I'm only in the recording studio, not in the shooting spot.
16:53Even among singers, you can tell me. Who's most likely to forget their lines? We'll just get one name and then we'll move forward.
17:00Probably me of my own songs. I'm like the master of forgetting my own lyrics.
17:06Most likely to pull a prank? Who's playful in a set? In the sets of coolie?
17:15Not me. Not me.
17:17No, we were all very good and proper and like focused on our work.
17:21Yes. Love it. No pranks and all.
17:23Love it. So, who is most likely to never break character?
17:28Shruti, I saw her. She never broke character. You never broke character.
17:33Really, sir?
17:34Yeah, yeah, I saw you. You're always…
17:36Commitment. Yeah. Okay.
17:40Most likely to steal a prop. No one's… Yeah? I feel you. I would do it too.
17:46Most likely to take a power nap between takes. Yeah? How long do your power naps last?
17:53Five seconds, ten seconds, five minutes, twenty minutes.
17:57It's probably the secret behind his youth as well. Must be one, right?
18:01Most likely to have the most… Can we have the teleprompter go up, please?
18:05Most likely to have the most dramatic playlist.
18:08Shruti. Yeah? Tell me why, Ani?
18:11He knows my playlist. It's really dramatic. How is your playlist?
18:15Like you… Even in your wildest dreams, you would have never heard those songs.
18:20But she'll make sure that she only controls the music every time and she has to play the song.
18:24And will she also juggle between genres of music?
18:27Yeah. It'll go from heavy metal to like a gana song. Next song will be like that. Yeah.
18:31I listen to music like that as well, so I can completely relate to that.
18:34But mostly positive or do you also get melancholic with your playlist?
18:38Depends on the state of mind. Okay.
18:41Most likely to survive in a real-life coolie job for a day.
18:49You can say no one.
18:51I think coolie job will be Talayvar only because he was a coolie, no? Before. Yeah.
18:57Most likely… Last question in this segment.
18:59Most likely to forget that they're wearing a mic and spill all the set gossip.
19:04Has it happened? Many times, then my manager will be like, Mike, Mike, Mike.
19:10I'll be like, okay, leave it. Okay. They already know I don't like them. So I'm sorry.
19:16Fabulous. Big round of applause for the three of them for being so sportive.
19:19We're just warming you up. We're just warming you up.
19:21The next one is called the Whisper Challenge.
19:23We've all seen this game being played multiple times, but we'll do this with a twist.
19:27Can we have some headphones for the three of them?
19:29We're just… I'm going to mouth the words, yeah?
19:32And these are going to be words related to the film.
19:35And I'll give you buzzers as well.
19:37So whoever knows the… I'll first tell you the word. Okay?
19:41Because they're going to be listening to really loud music.
19:43I'm going to tell them the word and then I'll mouth it to you.
19:58All three of you. It's a game. We'll keep score, yes?
20:01All of us will keep score and see who's winning.
20:07Monica.
20:09Monica.
20:10Monica.
20:11Your mic, your mic. Say it in the mic.
20:13I hit the buzzer.
20:15Monica Bellucci.
20:20Next word is Shipping Harbor.
20:25Shipping Harbor.
20:34Chipping Harbour.
20:40Super, well done.
20:44You can say whatever comes to mind.
20:46She heard chimpanzee, she's saying.
20:48Alright.
20:49Okay.
20:52The word is Deva Mansion.
20:55Okay.
20:56Yeah, yeah, go for it, go for it.
20:57Go for it, Shruti, go for it.
20:59Shruti, go for it.
21:00Yedo Mansion.
21:02Correct?
21:02But what is it?
21:04Deva Mansion, Deva Mansion.
21:06Sir, would you like to mouth it to them?
21:09Naak, sir, would you like to mouth it to them?
21:12Just take...
21:13Okay.
21:14Okay, you'll watch the fun.
21:15Okay, next one is Chikita Vibe.
21:18Okay, Chikita Vibe.
21:22Chikita Vibe.
21:23That's unbelievable.
21:25Okay.
21:28I am the danger.
21:29Okay.
21:29I am the danger.
21:33This is incredible.
21:36What is this?
21:37Okay.
21:38Okay, I've got one.
21:39Shobin Shahid.
21:40And I'm going to do this with a twist, okay?
21:42Come on, superstar.
21:56Did you say that?
22:00No, no, you didn't.
22:01No, no, no, no.
22:02No, no, no.
22:03One more time.
22:04Shobin Shahid.
22:05Shobin Shahid.
22:06Shobin Shahid.
22:07Shobin Shahid.
22:08Shobin Shahid.
22:09Shobin Shahid.
22:13Shobin Shahid.
22:14Shobin Shahid.
22:16Okay, and the last one.
22:18Naksa, why don't you do this?
22:20Last one.
22:21Anything, you can pick up anything.
22:23You can do this.
22:24Do this.
22:25The whole name.
22:26Superstar Rajnikanth.
22:28Superstar Rajnikanth.
22:33Superstar Rajnikanth.
22:37Thank you.
22:38Thank you.
22:39This was incredible.
22:41First of all, big round to both of them.
22:44Very competitive.
22:46Ani, this is intense.
22:49Have you played this game before multiple times?
22:52You know, I do this for a job, no?
22:54I wear headphones and listening to the people who are singing, so yeah.
22:58That's probably right.
22:59No, I missed one.
23:00I didn't understand one.
23:01Which one was that?
23:02Shobin Shahid.
23:03Shobin Shahid.
23:04Oh, Shobin.
23:05Okay, okay.
23:06Okay, and the last game that we're going to play is yes or no.
23:08Can we have the placards given to them, please?
23:11Can we have the placards, yes or no placards?
23:14So I'm just going to ask you questions.
23:16You say yes or no, the last of our games.
23:19You want to keep playing more games with these guys?
23:22Yes.
23:23You want to keep playing more games?
23:24So I'll finish it off.
23:25Yes.
23:26Come on, give us some energy, yeah?
23:28Yes.
23:29All right.
23:30Okay, you've got yes and no.
23:33I've listened to a song from the Kooli album at least 50 times.
23:36Now, it doesn't apply to you.
23:38It doesn't apply to you.
23:39Which one?
23:40No.
23:41Okay.
23:42Which is the maximum number of times?
23:44Which song have you listened to maximum number of times?
23:46I really like that Powerhouse song, I think maybe 20 times.
23:50Yeah.
23:51Okay.
23:52And what is your favorite song, Naksa?
23:54Monica.
23:55Monica.
23:56Love it, love it.
23:57Okay.
23:58I've danced to a Kooli song in my vanity van.
24:00You of course, it's a yes.
24:01Yeah.
24:02You'll show us the placard.
24:03No?
24:04Okay.
24:05Now you start.
24:06I was very much in character.
24:07Oh, very much in character.
24:08Yeah.
24:09We'll probably make Naksa dance a little later.
24:10I laugh in the middle of serious scenes.
24:12I laugh in between a serious scene.
24:13No?
24:14No?
24:15Yes.
24:16Okay.
24:17Has that gotten you in trouble?
24:18No?
24:19No?
24:20Yes.
24:21Okay.
24:22Has that gotten you in trouble?
24:23No?
24:24No?
24:25Yes.
24:26Okay.
