Protests rock Kolkata on RG Kar case anniversary, victim's parents join marches

On the first anniversary of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata witnessed multiple protests on Saturday, including a major one led by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. The victim's parents, along with various student and political groups, marched to the state secretariat despite police denying permission for the route and citing prohibitory orders. Adhikari alleged that BJP MLAs were baton-charged and that the parents of the RG Kar victim were injured in police action during the march.
