Palace belies Sara's claim Marcos administration engaged in 'political scapegoating'
Malacañang dismisses Vice President Sara Duterte's claim that the Marcos administration is engaged in 'political scapegoating' to divert public attention from the dismissal of her impeachment case. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after Duterte accused Malacañang of spreading false information that she intended to visit Kuwait without securing the required authorization. In an interview with the media onboard Philippine Airlines flight PR001 on Aug. 8, 2025, Castro said that she did not say that Duterte had traveled to Kuwait without a travel authority. She said that she had only mentioned that there were reports that Duterte might travel to Kuwait on Aug. 8 but the vice president has yet to secure a travel authority for her supposed trip. On Aug. 7, Duterte appeared in Davao City, belying Claire Castro’s statement that she might have traveled to Kuwait without securing a travel authority.
