La puissante famille McLusky combat le racisme systémique et la corruption dans la ville de Kingstown, dans le Michigan. Ils jouent les intermédiaires entre la population municipale, les détenus et l'administration. Véritable lieu de chaos, les morts se comptent par centaines suite à une émeute. L'ordre qui semblait y régner est, alors, complètement anéanti. Le but des frères McLusky est de maintenir la paix mais leur mission semble compliquée. Y arriveront-ils ? A noter que l'actrice Dianne Wiest a également joué dans La Mule (Clint Eastwood), L'Homme qui murmurait à l'oreille des chevaux (Robert Redford) et les séries Blacklist et New York, police judiciaire.
