Tobin goes over joint practice stress. Tyreek Hill did dress for practice yesterday, injury is NOT expected to be a long term issue. What happened to Anthony Richardson when he got hurt ending with a dislocated pinky?
Transcript
00:00Miami Dolphins are getting set for camp.
00:02Leroy, we have some updates on the injuries.
00:07Tyreek Hill, according to Mike McDaniel, is battling an oblique injury.
00:14The worst.
00:16The worst.
00:17Because they're attached to all core movement.
00:21So that is it.
00:23He is not in joint practice today, but he is dealing with an oblique injury,
00:29according to Mike McDaniel.
00:31So that's where we're at with his injury, and he is not going to participate.
00:36Obviously, that would mean he's probably not going to play in the game,
00:42which we weren't expecting anyway.
00:44Omar Kelly tweets out that he did take the receivers and Tua bowling yesterday.
00:53He got an oblique and he's bowling?
00:55Hey, man.
00:58I don't know.
01:00Maybe he just did the trip.
01:03He just sat by.
01:05I'm just saying.
01:06Like, bowling is very hard on all of that.
01:11Maybe he got, like, the little slide things that the kids use,
01:16and he just pushed the bowling ball down.
01:19I don't know.
01:21Or hit it granny style.
01:22I don't know.
01:23Let's see.
01:24Omar also tweets out, Patrick Paul just got put to the ground
01:27during his first one-on-one rep.
01:29It's all right.
01:31David Ferronis says, the Bears receivers whipped the Dolphins cornerbacks
01:36in one-on-ones.
01:37Not a shocker.
01:40Mike Hilton, Ethan Bonner, and Quenell Armstrong had pass breakups.
01:44All right.
01:45Waiting for a good tweet.
01:46Waiting for a good tweet.
01:48It's going to be a good tweet.
01:49It's going to come.
01:49It's going to come.
01:50It's going to come already.
01:51Understand, the single most difficult thing for a defensive back
01:59is one-on-one pass coverage.
02:04Because without any context of game, situation, or whatever,
02:09you're just guarding a guy 50 yards by 50 yards.
02:13So it's a bit unfair.
02:15They're also saying it's a lot of flags are getting thrown on these one-on-ones.
02:18A lot of grabbing and a lot of fighting.
02:24A lot of fighting.
02:25You know, it seems like it's going to be a brewing.
02:28Scuffle.
02:30With all that grabbing?
02:32All that grabbing.
02:33A little scuffle is going to be happening.
02:36Let's see.
02:38Mike McDaniels said on Tyree Kill, he's trying to practice.
02:41He's working through an oblique.
02:42That got worse because he was taking every rep that was on the books.
02:45He's trying to sneak his way into taking every rep.
02:50He was doing individual work yesterday, so that's a good sign.
02:56Let's see.
02:57Mo Kamara did not travel with the Dolphins because he's in concussion protocol,
03:01according to David Verones.
03:02And Alec Ingold is progressing through concussion protocol.
03:06I've been in concussion protocol for 17 years.
03:11It ain't fun.
03:14And then Mike McDaniels says on Sunday's game that we'd like to get starter snaps.
03:23How long, if at all, will depend on practice today?
03:25So, there you go.
03:29That's what we got from old Mike McDaniel.
03:32Tua, he spoke earlier in the week about his backups.
03:35This is, Brittany says, this is who's got to show her a little something.
03:38Zach Wilson, Quinn Ewers.
03:40This is what Tua's had to say about his QB room.
03:43Yeah, I'm excited for them.
03:44They're working really hard.
03:45They're competing, not just against each other and against myself,
03:49but within themselves, you know, that mental battle that they're having,
03:53if one sees another throw a deep ball or a good ball and they complete it,
03:58you know, the other not having to feel as if, okay, if I get that same play,
04:02I'm going to try to take that shot.
04:04That's not what the play asks of you to do.
04:06You know, that's not your job.
04:08Your job is to, you know, distribute the play within the timing of the play
04:12or distribute the ball within the timing of the play,
04:14and then you progress from there.
04:15So, I think they're doing a great job,
04:17and we're really excited to see what those guys can do for us on Sunday.
04:21All right, there you go.
04:24Tua on his quarterback, Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers.
04:30Didn't sound like a guy who's going to play on Sunday.
04:33I'll see what those guys do.
04:35Well, I would say this.
04:37If the starters are going to play, whether Tua plays or doesn't play,
04:42you would think that the offensive line, like Patrick Paul, Jonah,
04:46Savai Anaya, who are young guys who are projected to be starters,
04:50you would expect they're going to get some snaps.
04:52Well, the younger.
04:53I don't care what position you play.
04:55If you're young, you're getting some time.
05:02You have to.
05:03Have to.
05:04Have to.
05:08Let's see.
05:11Still looking for a good tweet.
05:12A lot of stress on this joint practice yesterday.
05:22Oh, man, because I want some good tweets.
05:25Eat a good tweet.
05:26I mean, are you being realistic about it, though?
05:30Well, I think I'm being realistic.
05:32Listen, as long as somebody shows me a little something on Twitter,
05:35then I'm happy.
05:36We also got last night, Anthony Richardson was kind of the big story
05:42of preseason last night.
05:44He got lit up like a Christmas tree.
05:46Again.
05:47He got his pinky sent into another direction.
05:51He's cool, though.
05:52He's day to day.
05:53This is Anthony Richardson after the game on what happened when he got hurt.
05:57Yeah, I definitely looked at it.
05:58That's a tricky one because it's five-man pro.
06:01I'm hot from the backside.
06:02I just got to get my eyes, you know, just be able to, you know, react to that.
06:07But just five-man pro just playing hot, you know,
06:09I just got to be on my P's and Q's when it comes to that.
06:11Did you just not see it?
06:13It was just going to be hard for me to see anyway
06:14because my eyes are looking a certain way.
06:17But I just got to be keyed on when everybody bringing pressure like that.
06:21I thought it was about to be the nickel, but they brought it from the other side,
06:24so I got to be ready to just get the ball out.
06:28Which is what exactly what I told you.
06:30Head on a swivel.
06:31Well, it's not even that.
06:33It's he's the reason why he got hit like that.
06:38But I would say this.
06:42When you start reading defenses and you get an idea of what they're going to do on the field,
06:49that's definitely a play where you change the protection
06:52because you would rather the hot come from your front side rather than your back side.
07:03So if the play is designed to go front side
07:06and you're looking front side and somebody come and hit you from the back
07:11because you didn't look on the back side,
07:13you got to be able to look at the defense and you can get an idea.
07:15If you study enough tape or get enough reps, you can get an idea of,
07:21okay, they might bring this guy off the edge.
07:23I'm going to slide the pass protection to the right
07:27so that the hot rusher or the guy I have to make an adjustment on
07:33comes from where I'm looking.
07:35And that's just part of growing as a quarterback.
07:41And then finally, Cam Ward's getting ready,
07:43likely for some preseason action this weekend,
07:45the former Miami Hurricanes quarterback.
07:47Here's what he had to say about getting ready to get some NFL snaps in the preseason.
07:52I'm listening to Coach Callahan.
07:53He knows I'm ready to play the whole time if I need to.
07:56But this is also a big evaluation, not only for myself, but for the whole team.
07:59I'm ready to make plays when my number's called.
08:00How excited are you for that opportunity to get out there for the first time?
08:04Like, it's real stuff.
08:05I'm real excited to just be on the grass again,
08:08to just really put everything that I work for out there
08:12and just try to lead my teammates and try to get a win out there.
08:17Cam Ward taking on the Bucs this weekend,
08:20who got into a little brouhaha in the practice field.
08:23There's certain teams that we would play against or practice against,
08:29and you always knew it was going to be a physical affair.
08:34I don't know what it is about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
08:37but throughout the history of the Bucs,
08:41you always think of physicality up front.
08:44It's been that way for years.
08:47Even when they were terrible,
08:49their defenses in their front seven have always been pretty good.
08:55So then there's Chicago.
08:58Chicago usually plays a physical style.
09:00San Fran.
09:03These are all teams through the history have been Baltimore.
09:07Yep.
09:08Like Pittsburgh.
09:10So if ever you play or practice against any of these teams,
09:14even when I play,
09:17you knew what you had to go in there with the mind frame
09:23or the mindset you had to go in there and play against them with.
09:25So we'll try again.
09:26Take care.
09:28Take care.
09:28Take care.
09:29Take care.
09:31All right.
09:37All right.
09:38All right.
09:38crucify or not,
09:40Phi.
09:40aba.
09:42All right.
09:42Garragie.
09:43Sal.
09:44Black.
09:44Capital.
09:45All right.
09:45Thin Mesilians.
