Joe Buck previews Newcastle United's clash against Espanyol at St James' Park. Eddie Howe's side will be keen to put all of the transfer noise behind them when they play their first match of a La Liga double header at St James' Park tonight.
Transcript
00:01So, I'm here just at Leithers' Park about walking to St James' Park for the first time since May.
00:06Of course, Eddie Howeside returned back home for a pre-season match against Espanyol tonight.
00:11It's around about all the noise of everything that's going on in the transfer market.
00:15It's just nice to have football back again, really, at St James' Park, you know.
00:20All the transfer this talk this summer, Alexander Rezac, the lack of signings, really.
00:26It's all been a lot of noise and not much action to really sort of quiet them.
00:30Obviously, they had their trips to South Korea and Singapore in those games.
00:34They weren't the best, but results-wise, I think Eddie Howell, of course, got a lot out of them.
00:38But for the fans watching and for us journalists, you'd like to see them win.
00:40Obviously, they haven't won yet in pre-season, bar their behind-closed-doors game against Carlisle.
00:44But tonight's a real opportunity for them to put that right.
00:48Against the Espanyol side, you know, they just avoided relegation from La Liga.
00:51So, yeah, it's a big test tomorrow against our Fettico Madrid.
00:56But tonight, it's a big one for Eddie Howell side, just to put a marker down.
01:00And, you know, as I said, they're at St James' Park.
01:02It's not a full house today, but it's going to be a decent crowd.
01:05Hopefully, they can put on a show.
01:07Players like Anthony Lange will get his first game at St James' Park, potentially, in the black and white shirts.
01:11Or with Aaron Ramsdale as well.
01:13So, you know, it's nice to have football back again.
01:16And I think you'll all be the same watching at home and if you're attending these games.
01:20You know, it's just nice to have something to talk about other than transfers.
01:23Of course, Eddie Howell will be asked about transfers and all that after the match.
01:26And I'm sure we'll have some updates on that.
01:28But right now, all that matters is the football.
01:30And just getting back into the normality of football once again.
