00:25Lula later confirmed he would make a state visit to India in early 2026.
00:30His office said the two leaders discussed the global economic climate
00:33and the impact of unilateral tariffs,
00:36noting that Brazil and India were then the hardest hit.
00:39Meanwhile, Brasilia said Modi and Lula had reaffirmed their aim
00:42to boost annual bilateral trade to over US$20 billion by 2030,
00:47up from about US$12 billion the previous year.
00:51On Wednesday, Trump announced an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods,
00:55raising the total duty to 50%.
00:57Brazil faced the same 50% tariff with lower rates for sectors such as aircraft,
01:03energy and orange juice.
