00:18So these are claims being made by the US President Donald Trump and this just days after he announced

00:24that there will be reciprocal tariffs that will be put on Mexico, Canada, India.

00:51Our objective through the BTA is to strengthen and deepen India-US two-way trade across goods

00:57and services, increase market access, reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers and deepen

01:04supply chain integration between the two countries.

01:07So that is how we look at the issue of tariff as far as India-US is concerned.

01:14My colleague Shivani Sharma is now joining me on the story.

01:16Shivani, we are seeing a tit for tat here, a tug of war taking place between India and

01:21the United States of America.

01:23US is now asking India that you need to cut down on your tariffs.

01:27But one thing is very clear, Donald Trump will surely walk the path that he has been

01:31talking for quite some time and we will see the trade deal being a little difficult for

01:36India this time.

01:37Aishwarya, Donald Trump had been promising America to make it great again and I think

01:43the main component of this particular promise was to bring back the resources of America

01:50to America.

01:52And here when we see Donald Trump talking about the relationships of US with other countries,

01:58the most important emphasis has been on tariff war, the tariff trade between both the countries,

02:05different countries.

02:06And he has been talking very tough in terms of tariff because he has been a businessman

02:10and he is talking more like a businessman, Aishwarya, in terms of improving the economy

02:15of US and improving the trade agreements with other countries.

02:19So here he has said that India has been charging massive tariffs on US and now what we also

02:26learn is that India and US are working together to reduce these tariffs to improve the economic

02:31relationship between both the countries.

02:42America working out a trade deal with the US.

02:46Donald Trump has said that India now needs to lower the tariffs and only then can one
