00:00Police have obtained a seven-day remand order on four suspects alleged to have killed a
00:06policeman while they were fleeing the scene of a burglary in Taman Golf Alorstar on Thursday.
00:12The suspects, aged 24 to 26, will be in custody until August 14 to assist with investigations
00:19under Section 302 of the Penal Code for Murder.
00:24Initial police investigations revealed that all four suspects are from Johor and one of
00:29them has 77 prior records, most of which involved cases of house break-ins and vehicle theft.
00:36The tragic incident occurred around 3.30 p.m. on Thursday when police received a tip-off
00:42about suspicious activity in Taman Golf.
00:45A team of five officers and personnel from the Kedah Criminal Investigation Department responded
00:50to the scene in two vehicles.
00:53It was during this operation that Corporal Mohammed Hafizul Izam Mazlan, who had just stepped out
00:58of the car, was rammed by the suspects who were attempting to flee in an SUV.
01:03The 35-year-old police officer sustained serious head and body injuries and died on the spot.
01:10One suspect was caught at the scene while the other three were later apprehended in Kepala
01:15Batas, after they hijacked an elderly couple's vehicle at a hotel.
01:20Meanwhile, the remains of Corporal Mohammed Hafizul were laid to rest in his hometown, Kampung Pak Kanchil
01:27in Bandar Permaisuri, Terengganu, on Friday morning.
01:30Present at the burial ground were Terengganu Police Chief Datuk Mohammed Khairi Khairuddin
01:36and more than 300 family members and friends.
01:39The burial was conducted with full police honours, including the ceremonial handing over of the
