00:00Hello and welcome to this Jane's weather update. This is updated on Friday. It is for
00:05Victoria. Let's kick it off and have a look at the big weather systems that we've got.
00:10Not here in the southeast but there's a rain system that's coming through Queensland and
00:13northern New South Wales. We're going to get some big falls up through there. Also tropical moisture
00:17coming into the southwest, meeting up with cold fronts as they move through. I'll show you what's
00:22going to happen to those cold fronts as they move across the southeast on Tuesday, Wednesday next
00:27week. All right, so let's have a look at day by day. Here's our high pressure system that is just
00:31west of Tasmania by the end of Friday. There's a big rain system coming through Queensland and
00:36northern New South Wales and this wet weather is starting to come into the southwest. As we're
00:41going to Saturday, that is moving through 25 to 50 millimetres around Perth. We're not seeing that.
00:47They are because there's a connection to tropical moisture. Meanwhile in the east here we've got
00:51some big falls that are happening north of Brisbane plus onshore airflow for there. But by the end of
00:56Saturday, high pressure is to the southeast of Tasmania so our afternoons start to warm up.
01:01We've got cloud across the south clear into sunshine. There is a little bit, we could call it
01:06the remains, it's just the dregs of it that's trickling down here that may just brush that
01:11northwestern corner to go through Saturday and on Sunday as well. I would not expect anything big out
01:16of that. You'll go, yes it's raining but there's not much into the rain gauge. Meanwhile here's that cold
01:21front moving across the west. Meanwhile this one clears out of Queensland and New South Wales as we've
01:26go through Sunday. Let's watch this system in the west. The cold front is in through here by the end
01:31of Sunday. Lovely tropical moisture pouring in from the northwest there but this here is a high
01:37pressure system. Let's watch what that is going to do as we go into Monday. Here's the cold front now
01:42near Adelaide so it's approaching us but high pressure is here already over the bite. It has
01:47already moved in. It is now already acting as a block and stopping that tropical moisture from coming in.
01:53So we get the remains of whatever was there but also the cold front is now starting to slide
01:58southwards because high pressure is very strong over the southeast. So watch that on Tuesday. It
02:03was 15, 25 up to 50 millimetres as it crosses south west. For us here 2 to 5 millimetres maybe 5 to
02:1010 in the south west. So downgrading by a factor of 10 as that moves across because we're lacking the
02:16moisture and we're lacking the instability to turn that into rain for us. So that's what we've got on Tuesday.
02:21That clears out on Wednesday. The next high pressure system is already overhead. We have our break on
02:26Thursday as the next weather system comes into the west. This one at the moment has a slightly
02:31different trajectory. Let's watch that. By the end of Thursday there's the cold front. You can see it's
02:35back on an angle rather than up like this. So back on an angle it's still heading in this direction.
02:40So as we go through Friday here it is the potential for slightly heavier falls as it comes through.
02:465 to 10 more up on the elevated parts and the exposed parts of the south west there.
02:51But that is something to watch however from this modelling as we have it on Friday it's a full
02:56week away and it could downgrade from there if it doesn't take the same path as what this one is
03:01showing at the moment. So keep an eye on that and see if it gets bigger or it gets lower as we approach.
03:07In terms of totals for all of that the big falls are definitely here in Queensland 25 to 50.
03:12Over in the south west a huge area getting 25 to 50 millimetres 50 to 75 around Perth. But by the
03:19time it reaches the south east we've got that Tuesday Wednesday and then that Friday one coming in
03:24maybe 10 to 15 if that next one actually delivers. A little bit more in the south west again if that
03:29actually delivers. Let's unpack for Melbourne. We've got a lot of sunshine across the weekend.
03:34We've got cold starts maybe some cloud lingering that clearing lots of sunshine and then that ends
03:40on Monday. But look at those temperatures warm up as the day goes on. It could even reach 20 during
03:45the afternoon on Monday as the high is well out to the east and we're back in northerly winds.
03:49You can see them there. The next wet weather is on Tuesday. So let's have a look at that. It's dry
03:54through the morning. It arrives around lunchtime at this stage and continues and then clears out during
03:59the evening. So that's when that cold front is moving past. It's likely to be Tuesday afternoon
04:04at this stage. All right so back to dry again by Wednesday. Not much happening there. Thursday
04:09we have cloud building later on. Then the next weather system is likely to arrive on Friday at
04:14this stage. That's it from me. Always head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
