00:00Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for joining us this morning shortly before 11
00:15o'clock, an active duty soldier assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia shot and wounded five of his
00:22fellow soldiers here on Fort Stewart. Thankfully, all are in stable condition and all are expected
00:29to recover. The alleged shooter is in custody. We have reestablished security. I have lifted all
00:36lockdown measures on Fort Stewart, and there is currently no threat to the local community.
00:41We have identified the alleged shooter as Sergeant Cornelius Radford, an automated logistics sergeant
00:48assigned to 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Sergeant Radford has not previously deployed to combat.
00:54Sergeant Radford has been interviewed by the Army Criminal Investigation Division,
00:59and is currently in pretrial confinement awaiting a charging decision by the Office of the Special
01:05Trial Counsel. Out from the current, can you tell us whether or not that was a military weapon or
01:11whether this is a person or any weapon that the person brought on face? Yes, ma'am. I can confirm
01:15it was not a military weapon, and we believe it was a personal handgun. Ladies and gentlemen,
01:22thank you for your questions, and again, thanks to the local responders and the local community for
01:26their help. The Army Criminal Investigation Division is on site to ensure that the perpetrator of this
01:32atrocity, which is exactly what it is, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The entire
01:39nation is praying for the victims and their families, and hopefully they'll fully recover, and we can put this
01:48chapter behind, but we're not going to forget what happened. I'm going to take very good care of this
01:54person that did this horrible person.
