00:00The Senate has moved to archive the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte
00:08following the Supreme Court's ruling that the impeachment process of the House is unconstitutional.
00:15The Upper House divided on Wednesday night, August 6, with 19 senators voting in the affirmative,
00:21four against, and one abstention.
00:24The decision came after thorough deliberation on Senator Rodante Marcoleta's motion to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Sara Duterte,
00:33which the Senate received on February 5, during the 19th Congress.
00:39Marcoleta's motion was amended to align with the immediately executory Supreme Court decision on July 25,
00:45which declared the articles of impeachment null and void, ab initio, and stated that the Senate did not have jurisdiction over them.
00:54Before this, Senate Minority Leader Vicente Titusoto III's motion to table Marcoleta's motion
01:00was rejected with only five affirmative votes and 90 negative votes, prompting them to vote on the amended motion.
