AOTR Elevates Help Natalia Hear

Authors of The Resistance is amplifying the story of Natalia, a 4-year-old girl in rural Kenya who has never heard a sound—not her mother’s voice, not the songs of her village, not her own name.

Natalia was born deaf. Without the ability to hear, she’s also been unable to develop speech. But this doesn’t have to be her forever story.

A life-changing cochlear implant surgery could allow Natalia to hear for the very first time. The cost? $35,000. For her family, her school, and her community, it’s an impossible figure. For us, it’s a number we can fight to overcome.

This is not charity. This is equity in action. Every child deserves access to the tools that let them thrive. Natalia’s right to hearing isn’t a luxury—it’s a human right.

We cannot stay silent while systems of poverty and medical inaccessibility silence her future.
