00:00President, I thank ASG Yancha for his briefing.
00:06I welcome the participation of foreign minister, son of Israel, and delegates from Palestine and Argentina in this meeting.
00:18I also thank Mr. David for his statement and express my deep sympathy for the suffering your loved ones have endured.
00:24We sincerely hope that all surviving hostages will be treated humanely, released at an early date, and reunited with their families without delay.
00:33We hope that the trauma caused by this tragedy will be alleviated and healed at an early date.
00:40President, the conflict in Gaza has dragged on for almost two years, causing unprecedented death and destruction,
00:47and bringing unimaginable suffering to civilians in both Palestine and Israel.
00:52The ceasefire agreement reached in January this year, if fully implemented,
00:58could have paved the way for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the return of all hostages to their families.
01:05Regretably, however, the ceasefire has been broken.
01:09Hostages remain in captivity, and the suffering continues.
01:13We call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
01:19Israel's military operations have resulted in the deaths of over 60,000 civilians in Gaza with innocent lives still being lost every day.
01:27The harsh reality has shown that military means are not the solution.
01:32An immediate ceasefire is the right path to saving lives and bringing hostages home.
01:41Recent media reports indicate that Israel has decided to escalate its military offensive and fully occupy Gaza.
01:49We express our grave concern over this development.
01:52We urge Israel to immediately halt such dangerous actions.
01:56We also urge all parties to promptly reach a binding and sustainable ceasefire agreement.
02:02And urge countries with significant influence over the parties concerned to act in a just and responsible manner
02:08and take concrete steps to help bring about a ceasefire.
02:14We call for alleviating the humanitarian catastrophe.
02:17The two million innocent civilians in Gaza should not be victims of war,
02:22nor should they endure further suffering from man-made disasters.
02:27Under the current extreme blockade and siege,
02:31the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues to worsen with severe famine looming large,
02:36restricting humanitarian access will only further exacerbate the collective punishment of people in Gaza
02:44and make it harder for surviving hostages to access life-saving supplies.
02:49Israel must comply with international law, especially the IHL,
02:53fully restore humanitarian access and support humanitarian agencies such as the United Nations in delivering aid.
03:00We call for revitalizing the two-state solution.
03:02The decades-long cycle of conflict between Palestine and Israel has cast a shadow of generations on both sides.
03:11Fully implementing the two-state solution and achieving an independent Palestinian state
03:15is the only viable path to resolving the Palestinian question
03:19and preventing recurrence of similar hostage crises.
03:23Last week's High-Level International Conference sent a strong signal
03:27in support of implementing the two-state solution.
03:30The international community should jointly oppose unilateral actions
03:35that undermine the foundation of the two-state solution
03:37and intensify efforts to advance the political process towards its realization.
03:42President China will continue to work with the international community
03:44to end the fighting in Gaza,
03:46alleviate humanitarian suffering,
03:49implement the two-state solution,
03:50and ultimately achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution
03:54to the Palestinian question
03:55so that people on both sides can enjoy peace and happiness.
03:59Thank you, President.
04:01Thank you, President.
