00:26and the department will need conduct such a study first. When tabling the 13th Malaysia
00:31Plan in Parliament last week, Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the
00:36retirement age policy will be reviewed in line with Malaysia's demographic shift toward an
00:41aging nation. He said the initiative is part of the ninth strategic thrust of the plan,
00:47which focuses on advancing social justice and equal opportunities for all citizens. He said
00:52various factors, including financial implications and job market dynamics, must be considered
00:57before making a decision on the matter. The current mandatory retirement age for civil servants
01:02in Malaysia is 60, which also serves as the minimum retirement age for private sector workers.
