Transcript
00:00Next, we'll go to S-2301, Improving Care and Rule America Reauthorization Act of 2025.
00:09And we have both bill sponsors here.
00:13I'll start with Senator Tim Scott.
00:17I'm sorry, Tim Scott, the bill sponsor to introduce the bill.
00:20Thank you, Chairman.
00:23It's been a pleasure to work with my colleagues on this committee and co-sponsors of the bill,
00:26including Senators Smith, Lummis, and Kane, to pass legislation that improves the health of all communities,
00:32but specifically, rural communities.
00:34This bill improves access to care for the rural communities.
00:39Over 30% of South Carolinians and 1 in 5 Americans live in the rural areas.
00:44Access to care continues to remain a challenge, and these HRSA programs are vital to bridging those gaps.
00:50The act includes language to make sure these funds not only go to rural communities,
00:54but also include local community involvement and how these programs are run.
01:00Rural health care isn't a red or blue state issue.
01:04In fact, many of my colleagues on this committee have received an email from my office
01:08on how these programs and grants have impacted their states.
01:12The data is clear.
01:13These programs improve health outcomes and should continue.
01:17I look forward to passing this bill out of committee today,
01:19and I urge all my colleagues to join me in supporting those bills.
01:23Thank you, and Senator Kane, thanks for working with us.
