On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) held a press conference alongside state Attorney General Rob Bonta (D-CA) to give updates on his state's effort to gerrymander in response to a push by President Trump to gerrymander Texas.
00:00Do you think of what erode the confidence, though, in the independent redistricting office, like, coming back to that, if we're just going to go around it at a time, how can we think of it as an independent one that we've given that power so to speak to?
00:17Well, we believe in the core principles. Things have changed. I mean, again, the word disenthrall is the operative word here.

00:45You want to continue to sit back as we have aid to people that are desperate and in need to get their lives back on track because of one of the most significant disasters, natural disasters in American history that happened in Southern California?
01:02You want that aid conditioned on a political whim of someone in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?
