00:00we go through a lot of bodily changes as we age our skin wrinkles our bones depreciate and studies
00:09have even found that we actually shrink well according to a new comprehensive study of our
00:14pupils it turns out those get smaller as our years get greater as well this was something
00:18laboratory studies have found previously this is the first time researchers have strapped gopros
00:23to the heads of participants and sent them out into the real world to see if it happens there
00:27too experts found that the size of one's pupils can shrink by as much as 0.4 millimeters every 10
00:33years and this can add up with the researchers saying that between young and old people there
00:37can be a several millimeters difference in pupil size during changing light environments between
00:42the age groups and this is probably why older people struggle with seeing when the light is dim
00:46as their pupils do not widen as much to allow in more light previously researchers have attempted
00:51to isolate what causes the pupils to expand whether it was simply light intensity or if certain wavelengths
00:56play a part however this new study is also important as it reveals other real-world scenarios which
01:02might cause pupils to dilate or retract as well the researchers say this work might eventually be
01:07used to develop better lighting solutions for aging individuals
