00:00So, John, considering your background, let's start with you.
00:04Who should decide what people need to be protected from
00:08and what is considered harmful content?
00:11Well, ultimately, certainly in the case of the United Kingdom,
00:14we're a liberal democracy, our parliament decides what rules we live by,
00:19and they've done that in the form of the Online Safety Act.
00:22I might remind people, they don't know,
00:25this was a bill drafted under the last Conservative government
00:28passed by the parliament where the Conservatives had a majority,
00:33but it was passed with all-party support.
00:35In fact, at the end, on the final votes,
00:38I don't think there was a single vote against it
00:40from any of the major political parties.
00:42So, it's parliament that decides,
00:45then ultimately it's our regulators and the courts
00:47that interpret parliament's wishes.
