00:00Terry McLaurin wants his money.
00:0382 catches last year, just under 1,100 yards, and 13 touchdowns.
00:09By far the best of his career.
00:12His prior three seasons combined, he went for 14 receiving touchdowns.
00:18I guess that's what happens when J.D. Daniels steps in,
00:21elevates a receiver here, John.
00:23Yeah, you're finally talking.
00:24I love what you're saying because you're right.
00:26He had incompetent quarterback play, five straight 1,000-yard seasons,
00:3013 yards per reception.
00:32Clearly the pure number one.
00:34Really came on at the end of the regular season with Zach Ertz
00:37to lead the victory over Detroit in the divisional game
00:40and then challenge your Philadelphia Eagles in the championship.
00:43But he's 29 years old, and I think that's where we sit
00:46when we look at Terry McLaurin as being a pure number one
00:49compared to Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson.
00:52You get the best year of his career last year.
00:54Is it going to really progress over the next couple of seasons?
00:58I think it's worth it.
00:58I think if you're going to sign him to a three- or even four-year deal,
01:02you get lightning in a bottle for two seasons with J.D. Daniels
01:05and Terry McLaurin, that's worth the money in my opinion.
01:09But again, without him, what are you going to do?
01:12Now, I saw the trade request this week with Tyreek Hill potentially.
01:16You know, Miami getting a draft pick and Tyreek Hill shipping him
01:20to Washington for Terry McLaurin.
01:22I actually don't think that's a bad decision for both teams.
01:26You get an experienced wide receiver in Tyreek Hill
01:28that should be dialed in with a contender in Washington,
01:32and Terry McLaurin might get his money with Jalen Waddell
01:35over there in Miami.
01:36Again, Miami's in a complete rebuild right now.
01:39I don't think they're going to challenge.
01:40I don't.
01:41I really don't.
01:42We could talk about that.
01:43No, we can, but here's the thing.
01:44I don't think Miami enters this season thinking it's a rebuild season.
01:47I think Miami has to have a down season in order for them to fire McDaniel
01:51as you want.
01:52And also, Joe, if it is a rebuild, then why am I going to pay Terry McLaurin?
01:56That would be my pushback.
01:57I understand that.
01:58But you look at that team as a whole.
02:00I think New England's better.
02:02I think the Jets are better.
02:03I think Buffalo is better.
02:05They have the potential to be a four- or five-win football team this year.
02:08If Tua suffers more injuries, they're going to struggle mightily.
02:11I agree with that.
02:12And that offensive line is not good in Miami.
02:14Again, but here's my thing.
02:16I think what's important to me, takeaway-wise there,
02:20is even in talking about moving off of Terry, your mind goes,
02:24okay, well, how do I replace him with Tyreek Hill?
02:26Micah Parsons is better than Terry McLaurin.
02:28He's more impactful to his football team than Terry McLaurin.
02:32But I don't think Dallas is going to be all that good anyway.
02:34The Washington Commanders are a team that could win the Super Bowl.
02:39Right.
02:39They could.
02:40If Jaden Daniels gets another step better,
02:42if some of that secondary comes together,
02:44if they hit on the Debo Samuel trade,
02:47hit on Connerly in round one,
02:49but if you remove McLaurin,
02:52well, now what am I relying on outside of a sophomore quarterback?
02:57Right?
02:57Right.
02:58That is a – this team cannot afford to just not have Terry McLaurin out there.
03:04I agree 100%.
03:05The biggest thing is he's a locker room guy.
03:08Yeah.
03:08He did it without talking until this year, right?
03:11He was one of the main reasons why they made it to an NFC championship.
03:15He stepped up in playoff appearances,
03:17has a great quarterback-to-wide receiver relationship with Jaden Daniels.
03:22I would pay Terry McLaurin.
03:23But if Washington isn't going to pay him,
03:26I think it's a viable option to look at Tyreek Hill.
03:28The reason why is if Miami's under .500,
03:31you think Tyreek Hill is going to be checked in in the first half of the year?
03:35Absolutely not.
03:35So if I could catch Tyreek Hill, an experienced playmaker,
03:39that benefits Jaden Daniels,
03:41and then Miami gets a locker room guy that they could have for two or three seasons.
