00:01Waste, refuse, rubbish.
00:03No matter what you call it, it remains one of the world's biggest environmental challenges.
00:08But in Central Asia, Kazakhstan is taking a different approach.
00:11The country has launched a huge national campaign called Tazakazakhstan,
00:16which means Clean Kazakhstan.
00:18Introduced last year by the President Kasumzh Martukaev,
00:21the program marks a new model of environmental action.
00:25Tazakazakhstan program, it's not just a program,
00:28it's more of a mindset that we've built here,
00:30especially in these volunteering programs, and there are a lot of them.
00:33It could just start with me and my sister.
00:36We can just go out one day and we can just go and explain,
00:39even little children, that everything starts from themselves
00:42and, of course, from the government as well.
00:48The campaign targets Kazakhstan's most pressing environmental issues,
00:52from cleaning up polluted areas and planting trees
00:55to modernizing waste collection and increasing recycling rates.
01:00Since the beginning of the year,
01:01nearly 600 cleanup events have taken place across the country,
01:05involving 2 million people.
01:08It's a nationwide effort for a cleaner future.
01:11And you can see it in action right here.
01:13The initiative brings together everyone,
01:16from school children to business leaders.
01:18But volunteers are a driving force behind the campaign.
01:21The new generation is growing up with green value.
01:51Environmental education is integrated into school programs,
01:55helping young people understand their role in building a sustainable future.
02:00But one of the crucial parts of the Taza Kazakhstan project
02:03aims to deal with serious, long-standing environmental challenges across the country.
02:08To address the lack of proper landfills,
02:10the government launched a large-scale program
02:13to build new waste disposal areas.
02:15As part of the ecological campaign,
02:41cities across Kazakhstan are receiving investment
02:44to modernize their waste collection systems.
02:47In Almaty City, for example,
02:48the fleet has been expanded with 50 new trucks.
02:52Modern approaches are enhancing Taza Kazakhstan's impact,
02:55making the project more efficient.
02:58Even space technology is part of the solution.
03:00Kazakhstan now uses satellite monitoring
03:02to detect illegal landfills.
03:05The system detects waste hotspots,
03:07each one marked in red.
03:09These satellite images don't just reveal dumping zones,
03:13they also help track floods,
03:15forest fires,
03:16and other environmental threats across Kazakhstan.
03:18At the very beginning,
03:19when we started our project,
03:21the space monitoring program,
03:23we have detected more than 9,000 solid waste formations
03:29over 60 cities in Kazakhstan.
03:33We are delivering data to the state authorities,
03:36and the state authorities are working with the local administrations.
03:39We are trying to make the situation manageable and predictable.
03:44The results of Taza Kazakhstan's project
03:47is also visible through digital tools.
03:50This Telegram chatbot allows people to report illegal dumpsites,
03:54street pollution, or broken infrastructure,
03:56and receive real-time updates
03:58on how their requests are being handled.
04:02This is Taza Kazak's bot.
04:03I just sent a report, and it's already been accepted.
04:06As you can see, it's quick, and everyone can use it.
04:09Since the bot was launched,
04:10citizens have submitted over 22,000 reports
04:13and more than 19,000 cases have already been resolved.
04:17Telegram Taza Kazak's bot
04:19has透過 the activity
04:21and the result of the local administrations.
04:24The population has appeared
04:25a simple, accessible function,
04:28where it can indicate on the problems
04:30that it is around,
04:31and that it just wants to solve for the best of its country.
04:33Now, a lot has changed.
04:34For the last 1,5 years,
04:36the main dynamic and the main result
04:38is that our population
04:39became more comprehensive,
04:40more comprehensive,
04:41and this is the best victory.
04:43Kazakhstan leads Central Asia's green transformation.
04:46The Taza Kazak-Kazakhstan ecological campaign
04:49is now a national mission
04:50uniting the country
04:52and proving that real environmental change
04:54starts when everyone takes part.
