00:00This is me having a go at doing music after having been in a band like 40 years ago.
00:05So this is actually our fourth gig.
00:09So I'm very lucky to be working with a bunch of great young musicians and they put up with
00:14me and we just go out there and see what happens.
00:17When I started out it was the mid-70s and that was the sort of ethos, the punk ethos
00:23was just have a go.
00:25And I would apply that to anything, whether it be music or acting or painting or anything.
00:30So I'm very lucky to have had these opportunities and I've enjoyed them all to be honest.
00:37But the music is very exciting because, you know, I'm not trying to be a pop star, I just
00:42like playing and singing with musicians.
00:47So the opportunity to do it on this scale is a great privilege.
00:51It's probably not dissimilar to music you might have heard around about Glasgow in the
00:57rainy dark winters of 1979, 1980.
01:01Synthy, fuzzy guitars, kind of noir-ish, but fun hopefully too.
01:07Melancholic.
01:08I get nervous.
01:09I'm nervous now because suddenly you come here and you hear all this fabulous music going
01:13on and you see all these people and previously when they invite you to do it, you think,
01:18oh, that'll be lovely, that'll be fun.
01:20But then you come up and are confronted by the real thing that people will actually be
01:24watching and have paid money and deserve to be entertained.
01:28But the band's great.
01:30So even if I might be a bit rubbish, they're wonderful.
01:34When I was in music, I had what all of the bands in Glasgow had at that time was energy
01:40and passion and youth and commitment to it.
01:43You know, I mean, look, I don't take it seriously, but I am serious about what we do.
01:50You know, I don't expect anything to come of it, but I do want to try and create good songs,
01:57you know, that people, the small amount of people that hear them might enjoy them.
