00:00U.S. President Donald Trump says he has ordered two American nuclear submarines to deploy to what he called appropriate regions, in response to remarks by a former Russian leader.
00:12Oh yeah, well we had to do that. We just have to be careful. And a threat was made and we didn't think it was appropriate, so I have to be very careful.
00:21So I do that on the basis of safety for our people. A threat was made by a former president of Russia and we're going to protect our people.
00:32Earlier in a social media post, Trump said the comments were in question were made by former Russian president and deputy chair of Russia's Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev,
00:43whose recent social media post said Trump's ultimatums are a threat and a step toward war.
00:48They also made references to Russia's nuclear capabilities.
00:52The war of words between the two men has escalated since Tuesday after Trump warned Russia to halt its invasion of Ukraine within 10 days or face unspecified consequences.
