00:00A threat was made by a former president of Russia and we're going to protect our people.
00:06Donald Trump just ordered two nuclear subs from the US fleet to be positioned near Russia
00:10in response to foolish and inflammatory comments by former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
00:14It started when Trump called the Russian and Indian economies dead,
00:17after which Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel,
00:20As for the talk about the dead economies of India and Russia and entering dangerous territory,
00:25maybe he should recall his favorite movies about the walking dead
00:27and also remember how dangerous the so-called dead hand, which doesn't even exist, could be.
00:32Dmitry Medvedev was referring to an alleged Cold War era system called the dead hand,
00:36which was designed to automatically launch a retaliatory strike against an enemy,
00:40even if its own leadership was incapacitated.
00:42Hence the name dead hand.
00:44When you talk about nuclear, we have to be prepared.
00:46In response to Trump's submarine action, Russian lawmaker Viktor Vodolatsky said to a state-run news agency
00:51that the number of Russian nuclear subs in the world is much more than that of the US
00:55and the ones that have been deployed by Washington now have been long under Russia's control.
01:00Nuclear submarines are not always nuclear-armed.
01:02They are basically submarines powered by a nuclear reactor.
01:05Unlike regular fuel-powered subs, these don't need to resurface often
01:08and can operate at high speeds for long periods.
