00:45as they learn how to deal with jealousy.
00:54Once there was a young cowboy who was raised in a ranching community.
00:58His name was Kirk Manchester, and he was the envy of everyone.
01:03Isn't he wonderful?
01:05He's the best driver in the West.
01:08Aw, he's nothing. I see much better.
01:11Aw, you're just saying that because you're jealous of her.
01:14Women.
01:16Girls, what do they know anyway?
01:19Yeah, nothing worth remembering.
01:21I think the one on the left is the best.
01:23But look at him. He's so cute.
01:26I think so, too.
01:28Hey, they're talking about me.
01:30Don't make me laugh. They're talking about me.
01:33Not me!
01:34Boys, boys, it's so obvious.
01:36They mean me.
01:38Jealousy will get you nowhere.
01:42Happy people come together.
01:44Let's go shine.
01:46Sharing love with one another.
01:48Let's go shine.
01:50Let a difference grow to you.
01:52Let's go shine.
01:54Let his spirit grow to you.
01:56Let's go shine.
01:57Let's go shine.
01:58Let's go shine.
01:59Let's go shine.
02:00Let's go shine.
02:01Let's go shine.
02:02Let's go shine.
02:03Let's go shine.
02:04Let's go shine.
02:05Let's go shine.
02:06Let's go shine.
02:07Let's go shine.
02:08Let's go shine.
02:09Let's go shine.
02:10Let's go shine.
02:11Let's go shine.
02:12Let's face it, boys.
02:22No girl in her right mind would say any of you are so cute.
02:26You're just jealous.
02:27Yeah.
02:28See how curly his hair is?
02:30It's all natural, too.
02:31He's the cutest.
02:34Guess that kills us out.
02:36Yeah, I guess so.
02:37Yeah, me too.
02:38I had a curly hair once, but I permed it.
02:41Oh, well, this is no perm, boys.
02:43So step aside.
02:45I think I'm going to be sick.
02:47I'm going to see Dirk.
02:49So what's this I hear about naturally curly hair?
02:52Huh?
02:53Oh, look, aren't they cute?
02:55Animals?
02:56Oh, no.
02:59Come together!
03:01Come together!
03:02Come together!
03:04Let's do it!
03:11I feel so crummy.
03:14Jealous, huh?
03:16Well, yeah, but how come some guys have all the luck?
03:20It's not luck.
03:22God made everybody, and we're all special to him.
03:26Hey, everybody at home, join us in singing this song.
03:29Woo-hoo!
03:30Woo-hoo!
03:30Woo-hoo!
03:34Sometimes when I'm looking around, it seems everyone's better than me.
03:41I get right down, flat out, frustrated, because no one pays attention to me.
03:48She's better looking.
03:49He's a better athlete.
03:51She's got natural curly hair.
03:53I look at what they've got, and I see I have not.
03:57But then I remember this simple prayer.
04:01God sees us as equals, and he loves us each the same way, too.
04:07Because deep down inside, we're ordinary people, and no one is as special as you.
04:14God sees us as equals, and he loves us each the same way, too.
04:20Because deep down inside, we're ordinary people, and no one is as special as you.
04:28I hope everybody at home is singing along with us.
04:31And Erin, smile!
04:34Cheer up!
04:35Sometimes when I'm looking around, it seems everyone's better than me.
04:41I get right down, flat out, frustrated, because no one pays attention to me.
04:47She's got a boyfriend.
04:50He's got seven girlfriends.
04:52Somehow, it doesn't seem fair.
04:55I look at what they've got, and I see I have not.
04:58But then I remember this simple prayer.
05:02God sees us as equals, and he loves us each the same way, too.
05:08Because deep down inside, we're ordinary people, and no one is as special as you.
05:14God sees us as equals, and he loves us each the same way, too.
05:21Because deep down inside, we're ordinary people, and no one is as special as you.
05:30I feel so much better.
05:36You should.
05:37You're special.
05:39And God sure did a neat thing when he made you.
05:42Thanks, Edward.
05:43That's the nicest thing anybody ever said to me.
05:46Vance!
05:55Vance!
05:56You're sure getting into this book, aren't you?
05:59Oh, uh-huh.
06:00Hey, Dirk!
06:03Hi, Dirk.
06:04Not a minute?
06:04Sure do.
06:05What could I help you with today?
06:07Dirk, have you ever been jealous?
06:09Many times.
06:11You?
06:12How'd you get over it?
06:13Well, I'm not going to tell you all that, but I do want you to read this book.
06:18I think it'll help.
06:20Now, just leave it on the desk when you're through, if I'm not back before you leave.
06:24Okay, Dirk.
06:25Where are you going?
06:26I gotta go and read the meters.
06:28Bye now.
06:28Bye, Vince.
06:29See you later.
06:30Ha!
06:31I hope this works.
06:33You want to hear it, Vince?
06:34Ha-ha!
06:35Looks like a good story.
06:37Jealousy is one of those feelings that's really quite hard to explain.
06:48Maybe you've never been jealous of anyone.
06:50But just wait.
06:52One of these days, you'll meet up with someone who's a little smarter, a little more popular,
06:57or maybe more athletic than you are.
06:59And if suddenly a surge of jealousy wells up inside you, then you will understand what
07:05this story is all about.
07:08Once there was a young cowboy who was raised in a ranching community.
07:12His name was Kirk Manchester, and he was the envy of everyone.
07:17Isn't he wonderful?
07:19He's the best driver in the West.
07:22Aw, he's nothing.
07:23I see much better.
07:25Aw, you're just saying that because you're jealous of him.
07:28Women.
07:30Harold was jealous of Kirk.
07:32Most of the guys were.
07:33He was handsome, strong, athletic, and womenfolk stuck to him like bees stick to honey.
07:39How come the girls go for him?
07:41What's he got?
07:42He's not that good looking.
07:43He sure is.
07:46I've seen better.
07:48Yeah, he's nothing.
07:50And you're jealous.
07:52I am not.
07:53I know I'm not.
07:54I think you might be, Harold.
07:56Huh?
07:57Me?
07:58Well, maybe just a little.
08:00Oh, rats, what am I supposed to do?
08:01That's the hard thing about jealousy.
08:03When you've got it, how do you get rid of it?
08:05That's what I just asked you.
08:07Sheesh.
08:08What am I going to do about this?
08:10I've got to get rid of this feeling.
08:11Kirk was the handsomest, best-dressed cowboy in the West.
08:25Hi.
08:27How do you, Mary Lou?
08:28I'm fine.
08:29Oh, Kirk.
08:30You look so handsome today.
08:32What a beautiful shirt.
08:34Heck, it's just a rig.
08:35I guess I am pretty handsome, aren't I?
08:38Mary Lou.
08:39Doesn't he look great?
08:40Not as handsome as the cowboy I just saw coming up the road.
08:44What are you talking about?
08:45What's going on here?
08:46Yeah.
08:47Let's go.
08:48And Gerda rushed Mary Lou off to see the handsome stranger.
08:52Kirk just stood there in shock and anger as a strange, new, and horrible feeling welled up inside of him.
08:59Kirk was jealous.
09:00Oh, Nick, he's coming.
09:02Nick, he's coming.
09:04Cut me, sheep.
09:06Gerda had set the ranch on fire with the news of the handsome stranger, and men and women folk alike were rushing out to catch sight of him.
09:14He's the most handsome man I've ever seen, and strong, too.
09:19You should see his muscles.
09:20Yeah.
09:22That guy better be worth it.
09:24What's wrong, Kirk?
09:26Oh, some creep is coming that the girls want to fall over.
09:29They're just making fools of themselves.
09:32Oh, I saw him.
09:33Good-looking dude.
09:34Hey, you're not jealous, are you, Kirk?
09:36Who, me?
09:37Don't be crazy.
09:38Why would I be jealous of anyone?
09:41Only you can answer that, Kirk.
09:43Everybody's a shrink.
09:44Let me out of here.
09:45Whatever you say.
09:47Hey, here he comes now.
09:49Oh, welcome to our ranch.
09:53My name's Bert Barrett.
09:54The Bert Barrett from the Barrett Spread?
09:57Yeah, that's me.
09:59Oh, pardon me for being so foreign, but are you married?
10:03Not yet.
10:03Rick and I haven't met the right lady yet.
10:05Oh, you will.
10:07What's the matter with those poor women?
10:10Isn't he handsome?
10:12He's so strong.
10:14This is making me sick.
10:16I'm getting out of here.
10:18What's wrong with me?
10:23I hate this feeling.
10:25I've never been jealous of anyone.
10:27How do I get rid of it?
10:29I've never been jealous.
10:32Just then, Harold came along.
10:35I feel so much better.
10:37I'm free of it.
10:38I'm not jealous anymore.
10:40Yippee.
10:42Oh.
10:43Hi, Kirk.
10:43Why so sad?
10:45Did I just hear you say you got free from jealousy?
10:48How'd you do it?
10:49How'd you get rid of it?
10:51It's funny.
10:51You should ask me that, Kirk.
10:53You're the one I was jealous of.
10:55Every time I'd look at you, I'd be jealous.
10:57But not anymore.
10:59Well, what happened?
11:01Well, I read here in the good book that love is not jealous.
11:05But I was jealous.
11:06So I knew I didn't have any love.
11:09So I asked God to give me love.
11:11But he told me that I had to first give him my jealousy.
11:14So I thought that was a fair enough swap.
11:16So what happened?
11:18I gave him my jealousy, and he gave me his love.
11:22And what happened then?
11:24Oh, all of a sudden, I was free.
11:26That awful feeling I had left.
11:29And now when I look at you, I don't feel jealous.
11:32I just think, didn't God do anything when he made you?
11:35Thanks, Harold.
11:36That's the finest thing anybody ever said to me.
11:39You've really helped me.
11:41It's okay, Kirk.
11:42See you later.
11:44Kirk sat there and thought for a while.
11:47It almost seemed like the jealousy was too strong to get rid of.
11:50But when he finally gave it over to God, God gave him his love.
11:54And do you know what happened?
11:56Bert Barrett and Kirk Manchester became best friends.
12:02Let's ride up to the East Range and round up the cattle.
12:05Okay, Bert.
12:06Bert, God sure did a neat thing when he made you.
12:09Thanks, Kirk.
12:09That's the finest thing anyone ever said to me.
12:12Me too.
12:12Let's go do the roundup.
12:14Good story, wasn't it, Vince?
12:21Well, I guess I'd better go now.
12:25Well, um, it's a bag, Abram.
12:27Want a piece of paper?
12:28Uh-huh.
12:28Okay.
12:29Here.
12:30See you, Vince.
12:31Uh-huh.
12:38Hi, Vince.
12:43Huh.
12:44Lyndon's gone, eh?
12:45Uh-huh.
12:46Oh, is this for me?
12:48Uh-huh.
12:51God sure did a neat thing when he made you dirt.
12:57Love, Vince.
12:58Well, that's the nicest thing anybody's ever said to me.
13:02Oh.
13:02Oh, thanks, Vince.
13:07How embarrassing.
13:21How am I going to explain this?
13:23What you look at, Toby?
13:24Oh, nothing much.
13:26But when we see your hair is making me down a kaleidoscope.
13:29Sure.
13:30Yeah, come on.
13:31Yeah.
13:31Let's go.
13:31Come on, guys.
13:37Take a little thing.
13:40You can make something.
13:42What's it going to be?
13:44You wait and see.
13:46With a little determination.
13:48And a lot of imagination.
13:50What's it going to be?
13:52You wait and see.
13:56You don't need to have a hat to have a party.
13:59But party hats could add a lot of fun.
14:03I'm at Harborfront and this is kaleidoscope.
14:07This is Sue.
14:08Hi, Sue.
14:08Hi, Harriet.
14:09How are you doing?
14:11Fine, thanks.
14:11Okay, let's get started.
14:13Okay, let's get started.
14:15What you need is a large sheet of paper.
14:18And on it, we've drawn a line straight across or a couple of inches up and a circle.
14:27These are some of the examples of the hats that we've made already.
14:30Using the long band to go around your head and any kind of design in the middle.
14:35It doesn't really have to be a circle.
14:37It could be a square or whatever.
14:38This is a piece out of wallpaper.
14:40And it goes on your head like that.
14:46And you tape it around the back.
14:49Another one here that we've made using foil plates.
14:57And that goes around your head like that.
14:59And you tape it at the back.
15:02Now, Harriet, you and I are going to make one, okay?
15:04Okay.
15:04We're going to use egg carton, little cups, and we're going to cut them in sections all
15:14the way around to make a flower petal.
15:18You open it out and then paint them.
15:21So I'll cut them.
15:21How about you paint them?
15:23Make one one color and one the other.
15:26No, in the pail, in the pail.
15:34Now, you can paint them any color you want.
15:45Also, use other things like aluminum foil all the way across.
15:50You make a crown just by cutting cardboard.
15:53You can use old crayons.
16:00You can use glue on noodles and paint them.
16:08Okay.
16:08So once we've got these all done, we're going to glue them on in a circle.
16:17There we are.
16:22Just put a dab of glue on the bottom.
16:24Let's get through.
16:25Here we are.
16:27I know we are.
16:30Okay, maybe we'll just put that many on for now, okay?
16:46Here we are.
16:49Okay?
16:52Now we'll cut it out.
16:58So you cut straight across to the line.
17:06Across to this line.
17:10And then around the circle.
17:11Here's our hat.
17:29Use almost anything that you can find in the home, and then tape it on at the back.
17:34And there's your party hat.
17:35If you would like the instructions for today's craft, write to us.
17:40The address will be coming up soon, so don't miss it.
17:42And have fun with your party hat.
17:44Bye for now.
17:45Bye.
17:45Bye.
17:45That was fun.
17:58I feel like having a party.
18:00How come?
18:01Because today I found out that there's nobody else quite like me.
18:05God made me, and he thinks I'm special.
18:07If you don't know how special you are to him, then watch this.
18:12Once there lived a father who owned some very precious gems.
18:16For many years, he left them locked away in a safety deposit box in the bank, waiting for
18:21the day when it would be the right time to bring them home.
18:25The father told his son many wonderful stories about the precious gems.
18:28Each jewel was very special to the old man for different reasons.
18:37At last, the long-awaited day arrived.
18:41Now the time has come for you to bring my precious gems home to me.
18:45Here is the key to the safety deposit box.
18:47Go to the bank and say to the teller,
18:50Today, my father wishes to have his gems released.
18:53And so the faithful son obeyed.
18:55He hurried along on his way to the city, excited to see the gems he had heard so much about.
19:01The gems that would one day be his very own.
19:07Open up the safety deposit box, please.
19:10Here's the key.
19:11Today my father wishes to have his gems released.
19:14You're quite a young boy to be given such a great responsibility.
19:21I only do as my father tells me.
19:23Then she took the key and in a few moments returned with the precious gems.
19:30One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
19:35This is all of them.
19:37Thank you, then.
19:39And he gathered them all and put them in the bag.
19:42Hurriedly, he left the bank and pressed his way through the crowd,
19:45anxious to get back home to show his father.
19:47But in all the excitement, one of the gems accidentally fell out of the bag, unnoticed,
19:58and rolled into a crack in the sidewalk.
20:02Father, I'm home.
20:04Come quickly and see the precious gems.
20:06One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, nine.
20:14One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
20:19Nine.
20:20Didn't you receive ten?
20:22Oh, no.
20:23One has been lost.
20:24And immediately, the father and son set out to find the lost gem.
20:28They looked everywhere, retracing all the steps the boy had taken.
20:31What are you looking for?
20:42A lost gem.
20:44I'll help you look.
20:45Come on, everyone.
20:46Come help us find the lost gem.
20:49People from everywhere joined in the search for the lost jewel.
20:52Late into the night, the search party went on until...
20:55Father, father, I found it.
20:57I found the lost gem.
20:58The people cheered and cried out loud for joy.
21:02Let's have a great celebration.
21:04For this gem that is so precious to me has been found
21:07and is back in my hands where it belongs.
21:15And suddenly, the city streets were alive with singing and dancing.
21:19And all the people rejoiced that the gem had been found.
21:22You are a precious gem.
21:26And your heavenly father wants you back.
21:30If you are lost and trying to hide from God,
21:33you need to repent from your sin
21:34and come home to your rightful place in his hands.
21:39He's looking for you.
21:41So come.
21:42It will make everyone very happy.
21:45I hope everyone watching will do that
21:51because there's no place like home.
21:54Yeah.
21:55Come together.
21:57Come together.
21:59Come together.
22:00Let your life chop.
22:04Hey, everybody.
22:06There's something I have to tell you.
22:07These are the cuties with the natural curls.
22:11Oh, yeah.
22:12I'm sorry for acting like I was better than you guys.
22:15That's all right.
22:16It's all right.
22:17It's okay, Toby.
22:18Nobody's better.
22:19Only special.
22:21I've been a prisoner of myself.
22:23Ha-ha.
22:24Hey.
22:25Let's sing that song.
22:28It's called Original You.
22:30Color, what would we do without it?
22:40Color, color, what would we do without it?
22:46What would a rainbow be without color?
22:50What if the sky stopped being blue?
22:53There'd be no variety without it.
22:56And it's the same with people, too.
22:59Look what I'm wearing.
23:02A fashion that's only one of a kind.
23:07It's an original created by a personal friend of mine.
23:12Look what I'm wearing.
23:16It was made with me in mind.
23:20And this is the color, the make and the model.
23:23For me, the special design.
23:29We really enjoy your letters.
23:31Here's a letter from Sherry Hudfork.
23:34Dear Circle Square, I think your show is very exciting.
23:39I am very glad that you have the show.
23:42I watch it every Sunday.
23:45I have another letter from Lynette.
23:51She says, my sister Sandy and I watch your show every morning.
23:55You are helping me learn the Bible in those little skits that you did.
24:00Can you make the program longer?
24:02No.
24:04Here's a letter from a mother.
24:06Dear Circle Square gang, our family are all fans of yours and we never miss a show.
24:11What we enjoy best of all is how you help us look at difficult everyday problems and how
24:18to cope with them.
24:19You make it so easy to understand and yet even I, the mom of the family, enjoy watching and
24:26learning.
