00:00Let's end with a discussion that I think is going to be a hot topic in the future, especially with what's going on in college sports.
00:05And now, of course, Pat, in Major League Baseball, that is prop bets.
00:09And it seems like state by state and more legislatures are basically asking the question, why?
00:16With all of the betting options, why do we need to have prop bets?
00:20And look, you know, as somebody that personally would love to give all sports betting fans and people who like to bet options, the groundswell is coming here.
00:29I mean, if anything happens with the Cleveland Guardian story, Pat, I think you're going to see the elimination of betting on pitches.
00:36Yeah, I mean, this is, of course, I think this is directly related to the Guardian situation where, of course, two pitchers have been placed on leave.
00:45At least one of them for suspicious pitching activities that that monitor integrity monitors have targeted and said, hey, this is a little weird.
00:53Let's check this out. Governor Mike DeWine came out and said, let's end prop betting.
00:57This isn't good. And of course, this isn't the first issue we've seen.
01:00As you mentioned, it's been happening across the country.
01:02But, you know, we've had in Ohio, some Dayton Flyer basketball players were targeted by bettors who were upset about prop bets.
01:10And so back in 2023, we saw the lead regulator there in Ohio say, we can't do this.
01:15We should get rid of these. Of course, that hasn't happened yet.
01:18But now you've got the governor saying the same thing based on this Guardian situation.
01:23And yeah, you have to wonder what's going to happen, because to your point, people are familiar with these now.
01:28People expect these offerings. They want to do this.
01:31They're you know, it's not a brand new thing.
01:34So maybe they then look offshore and say, let's go back there.
01:37So it's going to be a very tricky thing to figure out moving forward.
01:40Of course, in New Jersey, we have a new bill that is eliminating in-game wagering because of the impulsiveness that they say it encourages from bettors.
01:51Kind of the same situation here.
01:53And it is a little bit riskier than maybe some just straight bets on games and such when you get down to integrity monitoring issues.
02:00So, yeah, to your point, you know, it just adds to the growing headwinds against the online gambling industry that we've seen.
02:07And, you know, whether that's the advertising framework that we've seen proposed at a national level or just the state level regulators saying, OK, we need to figure out what kind of bets are good for bettors and what kind of people and athletes at a bigger risk.
02:23So we'll see what happens.
02:24But, yeah, Governor Mike DeWine said no more prop bets in Ohio or he doesn't want them.
02:29Of course, there still are a lot for the time being, but that's what he's asking for.
