Election schedule for Vice President announced, polling on September 9

The Election Commission of India has announced that the Vice-Presidential election will be held on September 9, following Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation. The last date for filing nominations is August 21, with polling and vote counting scheduled for the same day on September 9.

00:20that for due procedure to be followed until the next vice president is elected that entire process

00:27will take about a month which means that by about october 1st week is when we will know who the new

00:35vice president of india is but the date that has now been announced september 9th is the date that

00:41has been chosen to have the election for vice president of india after jakeet thankar's

00:49resignation that came in rather abruptly at 9 30 p.m that night and was accepted with

00:57immediate effect he of course had put down his resignation on health grounds and we had seen

01:03the kind of politics that had broken out soon after where the opposition had asked questions

01:10over what had happened behind the doors but the center continued to claim that it was due to health

01:17grounds let me go back to aishwarya to get a sense of the date that has been chosen 9th of september is

01:23when the new vice presidential elections are to be held

01:279th of september that's the time when we will see the big election taking place but also you know

01:34there is a big caveat will we see the opposition coming out with a nomination will we see the

01:39opposition unitedly coming out with the name of a candidate if there is no candidate then definitely

01:44you know one thing will be clear is that the candidate which will be put up by the bjp by the ruling

01:50party that actually uh they uh he or she will be the one uh that will win unopposed but it seems

01:56like at the moment suesha that the opposition also is very clearly looking at making sure uh that they

02:01also have someone in the fray they will also be throwing the hat in the ring so that's something uh

02:06that we will see uh the opposition also doing 9th of september from 10 a.m that uh that's the

02:11information that we are getting at the moment uh from 10 a.m till 6 p.m uh that's the time uh that we

02:17are getting at the moment uh is when the election will be held from 10 a.m i beg your pardon to 5

02:23p.m that's the time when the hours of the poll will take place and the result will be out on the

02:279th of september all right uh so we will know on the 9th of september meanwhile ashwarya several

02:35names that are doing the rounds of who possibly could be in this race what more are you picking up

02:42well you know uh it's too early suesha at the moment uh to take a name to do any kind of

02:48speculation because we do not know the kind of people that the ruling party will be coming out

02:52with we do not know the kind of names that we will see coming in from the opposition at the moment but

02:57yes certain names doing round one thing suesha i can tell you from what my sources in bjp are telling

03:02me is that it will be someone who i uh whose ideology is the same as the rss and the bjp that is

03:09something which is very very clear so someone who understands bjp someone who understands rss those

03:14are the kind of names that we will see coming out from the bjp stable so that's something uh which

03:20uh we will get get to know in just a couple of days the notification is out now of suesha we should

03:24expect in the in the next three to four days uh names will start doing rounds and then a final name

03:29will come out i believe in the next 10 days the opposition also from what we are understanding

03:33suesha at the moment is looking at uh bringing up their candidate and there will be a tussle between

03:38the opposition then and we will see the ruling party plus the allies also coming out with the

03:42name but someone who understands bjp understands rss someone whose core is someone who will be put up

03:48as as a uh who will be uh uh that will be the name that will come out with regards to the vp the

03:54nomination will take place very soon the last date of the nomination also uh from what we are

03:59understanding the election on the 9th and uh the last date of the nomination is 22nd of august so

04:06that's the time uh when if there is someone who wants to back out he or she can back out the

04:11last name of making the nomination 21st of august and withdrawal 22nd of august continue talking to

04:30entire process to get completed so by when are we likely to know that uh who the new vice president

04:50so an electoral college is made in that college we have people from lok sabha the mps from lok sabha

04:55and we have 12 nominated members from those also we can see some of them being part of this of

05:01the electoral college which is being formed the electoral college then starts the voting uh the

05:07voting will take place in the parliament house the timing is 10 a.m to 5 p.m and then we will see

05:12uh you know uh the results being announced on that very same day which means on the 9th of september
