Former Maharashtra ATS officer Mehboob Mujawar has alleged that he was instructed to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat during the 2008 Malegaon blast probe. In an exclusive to India Today TV, Mujawar claimed that the directive came from then Investigating Officer Paramveer Singh and was part of an alleged attempt to frame a 'saffron terror' narrative. The revelation has stirred controversy around the high-profile case, which has long been politically sensitive.

00:00It's been 24 hours since the verdict that came in in the Mali Gown 2008 blast case.
00:05All were acquitted.
00:07But there's a big revelation that has come in in the case.
00:10A former anti-terror squad officer says, and I quote him here,
00:14was asked to arrest Mohan Bhagwat, who's now RSSG.
00:19ATS insider's sensational claim on the investigation says
00:23that he was expected and forced to prove that there is saffron terror.
00:30This big revelation is coming in from the Mali Gown blast case
00:33and how there were orders given to go after the RSS, even arrest Mohan Bhagwat.
00:40This is a former ATS officer, Mehbu Mujawar's revelation.
00:43And he said that looking at how there have been acquittal that have come in of all the seven accused.
00:50But specifically, and this is a big exclusive that I want to mention,
00:53speaking to the India Today group,
00:55the officer has said that there was a then-investigating officer,
01:02Paramveer Singh, who ordered the arrest of Mohan Bhagwat, who's now RSSG chief.
01:07And that there was pressure on him to prove that there is saffron terror.
01:10I said, thank you, and the officer named Mohan Bhagwat,
01:15the nation of Kuru Nasa,
01:17and I said I shouldn't have to discut in that.
01:19I felt like a made up of that.
01:20I felt like I was a part of the police,
01:21that was the chief of Fire and the law and the law.
01:23I felt like that would have been evicting the law,
01:25a lot of the duties before and after that,
01:28then I wanted to take a deep deep and take a deep deep.
01:31That's what I would like to do in Kotebun.
01:35Even though everything isn't like I am.
01:39But...
01:41I would like to say that I would like to get the fund
01:44for some of these services.
01:46I was like, oh, but...
01:49You know, I don't want to give up.
01:52So I will like to give up.
01:54I just think that thePO is B Brady is involved with other resources.
01:58It's okay.
02:00If you don't have a lot of power, you don't have a lot of power.
02:04Today, Vidya is the one who has seen it.
02:30Well, it's not really the first time that he's really speaking about it, though he has spoken about it earlier as well and was dismissed, you know, as a disgruntled officer.
02:41But, you know, he has spoken earlier. Remember, you know, about two missing people in this, in this entire Malegaon case, there are two people who are as yet shown as wanted by the investigating agencies, that is Kalsangra and Dange.
02:55About them as well, this officer had filed an affidavit in the inner court and had said very clearly that these people are not alive.
03:03And after which there was quite a bit of ruffling that had happened. However, this officer's timing, the fact that there is a judgment that has come about, there's a huge political, you know, showdown between the Congress and the BJP.
03:17With this, the officer stating the same will certainly, you know, not go down well with the Congress leaders who have actually decided to keep mum right now after the initial, you know, remember they have already burned their fingers when they spoke about the saffron terror earlier.
03:33Not many Congress leaders are coming out and speaking about it now again. However, at this juncture with the officer's revelation, you really have to be seen if this is really taken seriously and some legal, you know, pathways drawn up so that any legal action can be taken on this revelation.
03:49Or is it just a person speaking and the end of the story? Well, we really have to see that.
03:54Stay on with me, Vidya, because whether it's a claim or whether he's going out to and will have some evidence bagged on it, but he's making serious charge.
04:03He's saying that there was pressure on him when he was in the anti-terror squad in Maharashtra to build up while there was this narrative.
04:10Remember that it had come in that this is saffron terror or Hindu terror eventually now that the accused have been acquitted for lack of evidence.
04:18The officer on his screen, let's just listen him briefly again to what he's saying and why that there was pressure on him to arrest Mohan Bhagwat.
04:25Dr.
04:37Mr.
04:55So, as Vidya is telling me that the controversy is also
05:25as about whether this officer will now be taken in consideration
05:28by other senior officers, by the government as well.
05:31But Vidya also tell me about the political showdown.
05:33Like you are telling us, Congress is slightly on the caution right now.
05:37They don't want to go all out because now all of their previous statements
05:40spoken years ago are coming back as old ghosts to haunt them.
05:45But what about the showdown on statements like this
05:47and a day later of the verdict?
05:50Well, you know, there has been the statement made earlier as well.
05:59But then, you know, most of the Congress leaders
06:01are not speaking on this issue any further.
06:04You know, we did speak to this.
06:06But obviously the BJP is going all guns about it.
06:08In fact, Ram Kadam, the BJP leader from Mumbai and the MLA,
06:13he also has spoken in the morning.
06:15You know, he was speaking and he spoke about how this actually fortifies
06:20the entire claim of the BJP that this entire case was actually done,
06:26created to, you know, nail certain BJP and RSS leaders.
06:31And that's one of the reasons why this entire, you know,
06:34labeling of saffron terror was done.
06:37So obviously these are claims and counterclaims.
06:39But whether this anything, because now this Mahboob Mujawar
06:44is actually retired, whether the statement made by Mahboob Mujawar
06:48will actually be taken forward, where there will be some kind of an action
06:52that will be seen, that will be worthwhile to see.
06:54Though as of now, none of the people in the authority
06:57have actually reacted to that, except for this BJP leader from Mumbai.
07:00And also now that he's mentioned a former senior officer as well,
07:05saying, Paramveer Singh forced me, he was then investigating officer,
07:09forced me and ordered the arrest of Mohan Bhagat.
