00:00The national government's debt hit a record high of 17.27 trillion pesos in June, surpassing the 17 trillion peso mark.
00:14According to the latest data by the Bureau of Treasury, the total debt stock bloated by 2.1% or 350 billion pesos from the end of May figure.
00:24The BTR said that despite breaching the 17 trillion peso mark, the end of June figure remains sustainable, blaming the record high debt on strong investor demand for government debt instruments.
00:39Domestic borrowing accounted for 11.95 trillion pesos or 69.2% of the total debt stock as of the end of June, and it slightly increased by 1.4% from the end of May.
00:52Meanwhile, the remaining 5.32 trillion pesos or 30.8% of the portfolio consists of the government's debt from foreign sources, which increased by 3.5% compared to the previous month.
