00:10and the Bears Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White, are eyeing lead roles in the sequel.
00:14Aaron Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for penning the 2010 movie,
00:18wrote the script and will direct the drama that's inspired by a series of articles
00:22Jeff Horwitz wrote for The Wall Street Journal, known as The Facebook Files.
00:26While the acclaimed 2010 drama focused on the making of Facebook,
00:30now known as Meta, the story of the new feature will focus on how the company's own reporting
00:34pointed to the negative effects its social media was having on teens and kids,
00:39how it knew misinformation was spreading and causing violence,
00:42contributing to the January 6th insurrection in 2021.
00:46If the casting becomes official, Madison would play Frances Haugen,
00:50the data engineer turned whistleblower who went to the Securities and Exchange Commission
00:53and The Wall Street Journal with her information.
00:56White would play the former Wall Street Journal tech reporter
00:59who leads the breaking of the Facebook files.
01:02Insiders note that no official offers have been made,
01:04although the project is a top priority for the studio and moving fast.
