00:00:30It was all about the glorious uncertainty of elite sport, and it went well beyond the playing field.
00:01:00It was devastating.
00:01:02It was completely unexpected.
00:01:07It was a sporting catastrophe.
00:01:09Let me tell you, these guys are here to embarrass you.
00:01:23Embarrass your families.
00:01:25You want to show the world who they are, and you don't deserve to be here.
00:01:32It was all the training, all the promises.
00:01:39It all counts for nothing.
00:01:40It was all the training, all the promises.
00:01:47It all counts for nothing.
00:01:48And believe me, nobody had anything at what was going to transpire that day.
00:01:54You've got to stay with them.
00:01:55Do what they hate.
00:01:56You give more than you ever had.
00:01:57To challenge the wing and go down fighting for it.
00:01:58That's a lot more.
00:01:59You give more than you ever had.
00:02:00To challenge the wing and go down fighting for it.
00:02:01You know, that's a lot more of a way to go down there.
00:02:02Play our way.
00:02:03Japan way.
00:02:04Japan way.
00:02:05You give more than you ever had.
00:02:06To challenge the wing and go down fighting for it.
00:02:09You know, that's a lot more of a way to go down there.
00:02:11Play our way.
00:02:12Japan way.
00:02:13Germany king.
00:02:14Let's go.
00:02:17I did.
00:02:18I did.
00:02:19You give more than you ever had.
00:02:20You give more than you ever had.
00:02:21You give more than you ever had.
00:02:22You give more than you ever had.
00:02:23To challenge the wing and go down fighting for it.
00:02:26I know that's a lot more of a way to go down there.
00:02:27Play our way.
00:02:30Japan Way.
00:02:31Let's go.
00:02:33Let's go.
00:02:34I don't know.
00:03:04I don't know.
00:03:34How do you feel?
00:03:35Yeah, good, mate.
00:03:36Happy.
00:03:42JR, we need new assistant coaches.
00:03:44I'll make a list.
00:03:45We already have assistant coaches.
00:03:47I know.
00:03:48The first time I heard about Eddie coaching the national team, I think I might have heard
00:03:52it from my wife.
00:03:53I'm home.
00:03:54Hey.
00:03:55I'm off to do some extra training.
00:03:57I thought we were going to the real estate agency.
00:03:59Oh, can we do that next week?
00:04:02If you're having second thoughts, just tell me.
00:04:04But rugby won't last forever, Michael.
00:04:07No second thoughts.
00:04:08I heard on the news that Eddie John signed on to coach Japan.
00:04:15Half Australian, half Japanese.
00:04:16That guy.
00:04:17I heard him talk.
00:04:18He's 100% Australian.
00:04:20I heard he's a cranky bastard.
00:04:23You know, I was a little bit intimidated but excited at the same time because although he
00:04:28was a grumpy coach, I knew he got results.
00:04:30I heard he's a cranky man.
00:04:35Anyway, I've got to go.
00:04:38Darling.
00:04:48JR, what's the news?
00:04:51I've got permission to get two new coaches.
00:04:53Two out of eight, that's 25%.
00:04:55Call me back when you're at 100.
00:04:57But then...
00:05:00So that's full time here in Tokyo.
00:05:04The French barbarians defeating Japan by 40 points to 21.
00:05:09Coach Eddie John certainly has some work to do before the World Cup.
00:05:13That was shocking, mate.
00:05:15Where's their pride?
00:05:17There was no leadership out there.
00:05:19Eddie, the French were too good.
00:05:21Rubbish.
00:05:21We had early penalties.
00:05:23We had chances to get points but we didn't take them.
00:05:26You always take the points on offer.
00:05:28It's not as if the French were too good.
00:05:34We weren't good enough.
00:05:37There's a difference.
00:05:38For your position.
00:05:49Where do you rank yourself in the world?
00:05:52Top 20?
00:05:53Maybe.
00:05:54Mike, you're not even in the top 100.
00:05:56At the World Cup, this team needs you to be the best.
00:05:58And you can be, but you've got to work hard.
00:06:01You can be, but you've got to work hard.
00:06:02You can be, but you've got to work hard.
00:06:03You can be, but you've got to work hard.
00:06:08Eddie.
00:06:09Eddie.
00:06:10Eddie.
00:06:11Eddie.
00:06:12Uh, yeah.
00:06:13Really poor performance by us today.
00:06:15Uh, nothing courageous or brave about that performance.
00:06:22I'm disappointed with my players' attitude.
00:06:23Didn't want to win enough.
00:06:24Didn't want to change enough.
00:06:25So I'm going to have to change the players.
00:06:26I cannot have performances like that for Japan.
00:06:27I apologize for that performance because I'm not ese and the first one in the game.
00:06:28I have no idea how to play in the game.
00:06:29That was a team of players' players.
00:06:30Please give me a計算 of integrity.
00:06:31If you know your team, if you've got to work hard, you'll get a puck.
00:06:32Anytime you have to play.
00:06:33And then you'll get an player.
00:06:34And you can have a team of players like that.
00:06:35You can take a ball.
00:06:36That's KO.
00:06:37And then you're going to be a team of players like the players.
00:06:38You can be a team.
00:06:39Yep.
00:06:40That wasn't that great.
00:06:41You can be a team of players like what this fight was true, so I'm sorry.
00:06:42I can't wait.
00:06:43I'm not doing a team of players like this fight.
00:06:44that performance. I'm disappointed with my players' attitude. I didn't want to win enough.
00:06:48I didn't want to change enough. So I'm going to have to change the players. I cannot have
00:06:52performances like that for Japan. I apologize for that performance because I'm responsible
00:06:57for it. I guarantee I'm going to make some changes. I better stop now.
00:07:01Hirose, do you agree?
00:07:08It's not funny. That's the problem in Japan. They're not serious about winning. Do we want
00:07:13to grow up so we can compete? I'm sick of people thinking that half an effort is acceptable.
00:07:17It's not.
00:07:22It was tough for Hirose. But I think it was a message that had to be said.
00:07:43It's tough for Hirose.
00:07:44It was embarrassing. If I paid to watch, I don't want a refund.
00:07:53Eddie, you can't change them overnight. You've only just got the job.
00:07:58Ed, if we don't win, I won't have a job. Before you know it, the World Cup will be here. And
00:08:04you know a good team's used for Japan in the World Cup. In 1995, New Zealand beat Japan
00:08:09145 points to 17. Now how does a team get over that? It affects the whole temperature.
00:08:14Eddie, stop talking. I'm serious.
00:08:17So am I. We've told you before. There are some things in life we can't control. Uncontrollables,
00:08:24Eddie. That's life. Those kids that used to call you all sorts of names when you were young,
00:08:30could you control them? No. Could you control your reaction? Yes. Focus on the controllables,
00:08:38Eddie, and get some rest. You can't keep doing 20 hour days. Get some rest.
00:08:47I will.
00:09:00Michael, I'm sorry to Paul when you've not been there so long. Michael, your brother.
00:09:18I told him not to be with those boys. He crashed his class. He's gone, Michael. He's gone.
00:09:25You okay? Yeah. I'm fine. Oh, I almost forgot. Could you come and visit my English school?
00:09:33The students always ask if you can. I'm just sure you're playing. We should get a baseball playoff.
00:09:38But you're the only person they know that's famous. And you've been on television. To them,
00:09:43that means you're famous. Just 20 minutes. Okay. Thank you. Now let's get back to it. You're right,
00:09:55it looks good.
00:09:57Growing up in New Zealand as a half-caste, I struggled to fit in. So when I moved to Japan,
00:10:02I came across the same struggles.
00:10:04Excuse me. When did you come to Japan?
00:10:0810 years ago.
00:10:10Oh, I have a certificate.
00:10:13Let me show you.
00:10:15I will show you.
00:10:16Reach, Michael. 11256.
00:10:18People would often judge on appearance and to lose your identity in foreign countries is a dangerous thing.
00:10:24Trouble.
00:10:25Trouble.
00:10:26Trouble.
00:10:561.
00:11:21Every four years Japan loses every World Cup game.
00:11:23Just for once, imagine what it would be like to win against a top three ranked team in
00:11:27the world.
00:11:28Can you at least imagine that?
00:11:38Let's talk about things after the Fiji game.
00:11:40Michael Ritz is back from injury.
00:11:43Eddie, the players are doing their best.
00:11:46Well, their best isn't good enough.
00:11:47The world champions are taking the easy way.
00:11:49But worse than that, they expect to lose.
00:11:53And that's what's not acceptable.
00:11:56Hitting us.
00:11:59Eddie, you can't walk out.
00:12:04Bullshit.
00:12:05Results don't change because nothing around here changes.
00:12:07If I stay, I contribute to that.
00:12:11You lot have got to stop managing failure and change your thinking.
00:12:15We've got good players, but how can they be great if we expect to lose?
00:12:19Thanks.
00:12:23I want to be human beings now.
00:12:25I'm trying to save myself.
00:12:27I'm trying to save myself.
00:12:29I'm trying to save my力.
00:12:31Soon we'll know who we're playing in the World Cup.
00:12:33It doesn't matter who it is.
00:12:35We're going to win.
00:12:36It starts today, JR.
00:12:39Do you believe we can win?
00:12:44You don't have to lie much better than that, mate.
00:12:46I welcome it.
00:12:48Just give me those coaches.
00:12:50I want them all here after the Fiji game.
00:12:52Okay?
00:12:56Don't fail, JR.
00:13:06You might be wondering why they call me JR.
00:13:11Why everybody call me JR?
00:13:14Which is, you know, I've lost...
00:13:18Japan railways in Tokyo, maybe more than a hundred times.
00:13:22Even though I'm Japanese.
00:13:25It's really a shame.
00:13:27What does a pro-appointment do?
00:13:35The point for 12 hours is the option.
00:13:43I'm sorry.
00:13:44Can you hear me?
00:13:47I'm really...
00:13:49I'm sorry.
00:13:52Okay?
00:13:57Thanks for coming, mate.
00:14:04All good, mate. All good.
00:14:05Grab yourself a drink. I'll have a coffee.
00:14:07I want to talk about the president, Captain.
00:14:08Too old, too slow.
00:14:10It's your job if you want it, mate.
00:14:12Grab those drinks.
00:14:14The real idiot wouldn't do that.
00:14:16What would he do?
00:14:18Blow your head off.
00:14:22Thanks for coming, mate.
00:14:23All good, mate. All good.
00:14:24I ordered you a latte.
00:14:26Here's your favourite.
00:14:28You hungry?
00:14:29No, I'm going.
00:14:30Have a seat.
00:14:31How's the talking?
00:14:32Yeah, she's good.
00:14:33Our captain.
00:14:34Great guy.
00:14:35Great leader.
00:14:36On and off the field.
00:14:38But he's 32.
00:14:40His best games are behind him.
00:14:42This game against Fiji is going to be his last game as captain.
00:14:46Then his role is going to be off-field captain.
00:14:48He's great for team morale.
00:14:50Have you told him?
00:14:51Mate.
00:14:52From now on, I want you to be our off-field captain.
00:14:54What if I improve?
00:14:59I can do extra work.
00:15:01After the Fiji game, mate, I can't make any promises.
00:15:04I can do extra work.
00:15:05But...
00:15:05I don't know.
00:15:06I'm going to take care of him.
00:15:07I'm going to take care of him.
00:15:08It was hard to understand what he thought about, but I think he would understand what he thought about.
00:15:13I think he should understand what he thought about.
00:15:17If he can understand what he thought about, he can grow up.
00:15:38So now it's a great opportunity to put my hand up for the World Cup spot, so I was very excited for that game.
00:15:45It's a big day around the World Champions Japan.
00:15:48Oncoming in source for Michael Leach, recovering from a broken arm.
00:15:52And clearly relishing the moment.
00:15:54Leach has left from the front all day. Inspirational.
00:15:58More up-tempo play Japan. Leach for the ball. A brilliant run from the big ball up.
00:16:03That ball's terrible.
00:16:05You have to look down and see your foot facing the opposite direction.
00:16:08You know, two years out from the World Cup.
00:16:10You know, it's very, very scary and I really did reconsider my options at that time.
00:16:23He's late.
00:16:26I'm glad we're back from Fiji.
00:16:29How would you like the place?
00:16:32I miss sushi.
00:16:34I miss sushi food in Fiji.
00:16:36It's not the same.
00:16:40I was sitting in traffic last week.
00:16:42Everybody looked so glum.
00:16:44They wake up, they sit in traffic, go on crowded trains.
00:16:51Mostly make their job.
00:16:53I do it, mate.
00:16:55Probably to pay bills.
00:16:56Do you like your job?
00:16:57I've got a lot of bills.
00:16:58Who do you hope we play faster?
00:16:59No matter what I hope, mate.
00:17:01The team ranked lower than us.
00:17:02It's a bad rugby association.
00:17:03All men are speaking.
00:17:04First game.
00:17:05South Africa.
00:17:06All men are speaking.
00:17:07First game.
00:17:08South Africa.
00:17:09All men are speaking.
00:17:10Holy moly.
00:17:11Now we're coming up against the biggest and most physical team in the world.
00:17:12No matter what I hope, mate.
00:17:13No matter what I hope, mate.
00:17:14The team ranked lower than us.
00:17:18All men are saying.
00:17:19All men are saying.
00:17:20All men are talking to us.
00:17:21All men are saying.
00:17:22All men are saying.
00:17:23All men are saying.
00:17:24No matter what we do, mate.
00:17:25It's a bad rugby association.
00:17:26No matter what you're saying.
00:17:27All men are saying.
00:17:28First game.
00:17:29South Africa.
00:17:30Holy moly.
00:17:33We're coming up against the biggest and the most physical team in the world rugby.
00:17:42We've got no chance.
00:17:43The first match is the biggest team in the world's world.
00:17:54What do you think?
00:17:56You're good mate, very pleased.
00:18:00What are your plans leading in?
00:18:04Make myself redundant.
00:18:08It's true.
00:18:10I want the players to think for themselves.
00:18:12They're the ones on the field, not me.
00:18:14Realistically, you have no chance of winning.
00:18:16Will you rest your good players and focus on game two?
00:18:19We haven't got enough good players to rest on you mate.
00:18:22People are already saying that it could be a hundred point difference.
00:18:26I think, a hundred and forty-five?
00:18:29Listen mate, I don't know who your boss is, but he's a liar.
00:18:32You don't know him, but you know that.
00:18:34Well you called me this morning, told me you were smart.
00:18:38I must be your boss mate.
00:18:43The more I thought about us playing against South Africa, the more I liked it.
00:18:47So there it is, the familiar physical dominance of South Africa.
00:18:55Just too much for the New Zealand All Blacks.
00:18:58Green box winning by eighteen points to five.
00:19:07Hey, how about this one?
00:19:11Looks good.
00:19:13Do you want to do some studying after?
00:19:16No, I'm fine.
00:19:18That's three nights in a row we haven't studied.
00:19:21Tomorrow.
00:19:22You said that yesterday.
00:19:30I gotta go.
00:19:33You can hardly walk.
00:19:35I'll be fine.
00:19:37He said he'll pick me up.
00:19:39Would you hire you as captain?
00:19:41If you don't want me as captain, just say it.
00:19:43What did you learn at school?
00:19:46You went to school, Rob?
00:19:47I let out a rant.
00:19:48Could've done that at home.
00:19:49Why are we talking about this?
00:19:51A person has to go to school.
00:19:53What if you lived without no schools?
00:19:55Now get by.
00:19:56How?
00:19:57What do you want to say, Eddie?
00:19:58This country.
00:19:59It's like a big school.
00:20:01They want everybody to think the same.
00:20:03Take the same tests.
00:20:05Want everybody to be nice.
00:20:07There's nothing wrong with that.
00:20:08There you go again.
00:20:09I don't know what we're talking about.
00:20:11Responsibility, mate.
00:20:12It's not something that's given to you.
00:20:13Here we go again, eh?
00:20:14It's something you take.
00:20:15You take responsibility for your family.
00:20:17You take responsibility for yourself.
00:20:19How can you take responsibility?
00:20:21When you're too worried what everybody else thinks.
00:20:23I would hire me as captain.
00:20:26Why?
00:20:28Because I care about the team.
00:20:29That's why.
00:20:30You hire you as captain so you can lead them to win.
00:20:35How's your league, mate?
00:20:36It's getting better.
00:20:39Good.
00:20:4025 minutes from your place.
00:20:42I'll catch you later, mate.
00:20:50I can only take 31 players to the World Cup.
00:20:56Some of our new assistant coaches, there's more to come.
00:20:59You don't like what you see, you change it, mate.
00:21:01You tell him he's here to fix problems, not to be one.
00:21:04Or you can grab a baguette and go home.
00:21:09He's lame and he's beating you.
00:21:11Most of you need to change your mindset.
00:21:13Or go home and apologize to your wives for wasting their time.
00:21:15You choose to be here, you choose this sport.
00:21:17But who's at home making it possible?
00:21:19You put in this bullshit effort.
00:21:20Who's going home to apologize to their partners?
00:21:22He's lame and he's beating you.
00:21:24Most of you need to change your mindset.
00:21:26Go home and apologize to your wives for wasting their time.
00:21:29You choose to be here.
00:21:30You choose this sport.
00:21:31But who's at home making it possible?
00:21:32If you put in this bullshit effort,
00:21:34who's going home to apologize to their partners?
00:21:37Bring it down, bring it down.
00:21:38Go, go, go.
00:21:40The Africans out made a man fellow.
00:21:41Go out there.
00:21:42Come out!
00:21:45Come on, bring it down, bring it down.
00:21:49What are you doing?
00:21:49Tell them they're the worst for you.
00:21:54I didn't say it like that.
00:21:58Do you think the South Africans are going to talk much to them?
00:22:01They won't.
00:22:02I'll say it properly, it'll go hard.
00:22:06This team is the best.
00:22:10What is this?
00:22:12Are they in the park?
00:22:13Did you bring your picnic rug?
00:22:14K-Ryu is a great pressure to be here for the fans.
00:22:21Do you want to say that?
00:22:22Yes.
00:22:23Just after a period of time, you know,
00:22:27we become familiar with how any opera is.
00:22:30Go!
00:22:33Touch the shot on the ball.
00:22:36So, you know, so anyone that's worked with it,
00:22:38he knows that if he doesn't sleep,
00:22:40he works the hardest.
00:22:42And that's why he's always grumpy.
00:22:44Been in Japan too long.
00:22:46Do you care more about bleeding in?
00:22:47How in here?
00:22:48Are you got all there?
00:22:49They're not Japanese, mate.
00:22:51He actually said that more than once,
00:22:53and every time he said it,
00:22:54it really used to make my blood boil.
00:22:56He's a good character,
00:22:57so I wanted him to act himself
00:23:00and not be someone else.
00:23:01Because what sometimes happens with foreign players in Japan,
00:23:04they try to become Japanese.
00:23:05How long to get these guys ready?
00:23:10JP thinks a year.
00:23:12Steve?
00:23:13Same.
00:23:14Mark?
00:23:16Two years.
00:23:19You all right, mate?
00:23:20What's the matter?
00:23:22The players don't like you.
00:23:25Did they like the previous coach?
00:23:27Very much.
00:23:27And how many games did Japan win at the last World Cup?
00:23:31No.
00:23:32This isn't social media, mate.
00:23:34I don't give a shit about likes.
00:23:35We're here to do a job.
00:23:36If you don't like it, you can Bundy off.
00:23:40You're gonna Bundy off?
00:23:41I don't know what that means.
00:23:42It means quit, mate.
00:23:43How are you gonna quit?
00:23:47Anything else?
00:23:50JP thinks.
00:23:52The camp's too hard.
00:23:546am to 6pm.
00:23:55Six days a week.
00:23:56The players won't last.
00:23:57I didn't say anything about 6am.
00:23:59I said 5am.
00:24:00We'll never be bigger or stronger than South Africa.
00:24:02But we will be fitter and smarter.
00:24:04We have to prepare to win.
00:24:06We have to prepare to win.
00:24:07There's a difference between preparing and preparing to win.
00:24:10And so we focus very much on controlling on what we can control
00:24:15and not worrying about the uncontrollables.
00:24:18I'm here to help.
00:24:19Do you have anything to talk about?
00:24:22I don't like my character.
00:24:24Anything else?
00:24:25Eddie is a little bit...
00:24:26Eh, I'm not a fan of the fans.
00:24:29Did you hear that?
00:24:30I think the only person you can control is yourself, so, if people don't like the way you operate, then so be it.
00:24:43Eddie, sorry.
00:24:44Zen Zen Dummy, you need to plan better, Jayar, and don't tell me it's because of traffic, because there's traffic every day.
00:24:59I'll be there soon.
00:25:00We've got a long drive into the country today.
00:25:02Well, that's if you ever get here, mate.
00:25:04What's wrong, man?
00:25:05Nothing.
00:25:06I'm just, uh...
00:25:07What's wrong, man?
00:25:08Nothing.
00:25:09I'm just, um...
00:25:10... excited to check the World Cup training facility today.
00:25:28What's wrong, man?
00:25:30Nothing.
00:25:30I'm just, um...
00:25:32... excited to check the World Cup training facility today.
00:25:38You're not supposed to be reading cheques while you're driving, mate.
00:25:42Sorry.
00:25:43Do you want me to read it?
00:25:45No! I mean, no, you're right.
00:25:47That was stupid.
00:25:49You've been strange today, mate.
00:25:51Is everything okay?
00:25:53Yep.
00:26:08Eddie?
00:26:11There's something I need to say.
00:26:14What?
00:26:15Stop.
00:26:16Stop the game.
00:26:17Stop.
00:26:18Stop.
00:26:19Stop.
00:26:20Stop.
00:26:21Stop.
00:26:22Stop.
00:26:23Stop.
00:26:24Stop.
00:26:25Stop.
00:26:26Stop.
00:26:27Stop.
00:26:48Is that where you came from?
00:26:50I take this stupid looking moment-
00:26:52Eddie, come here, please.
00:27:20This is for you.
00:27:22It always gets up.
00:27:33Very soon, a nice man from the returned servicemen's league is gonna come and cut the grass.
00:27:39I want you to help this kind man, okay?
00:27:43Mom, what do you do when you're scared of something?
00:27:49When I'm scared.
00:27:52I close my eyes and I think about my family.
00:27:58Then I think about the best outcome in that moment.
00:28:03No matter how scared I am, I force myself to smile.
00:28:07Then I open my eyes.
00:28:13Is that all?
00:28:14Yes.
00:28:15The next time, when silly boys call you names, smile and say something intelligent.
00:28:27Silly people don't like that.
00:28:28Good morning.
00:28:29I...
00:28:30Hello.
00:28:31Thank you for coming.
00:28:32Ted, my husband.
00:28:33He'd be so grateful.
00:28:34This is number 34, right?
00:28:35Yes.
00:28:36I'm sorry.
00:28:37Sorry.
00:28:38I'm sorry.
00:28:39I thought he was gonna cut out grass.
00:28:40I think perhaps he remembered that he had something else to do.
00:28:45Scrum!
00:28:46Scrum!
00:28:47Ray McBee!
00:28:48Well, look at you.
00:28:49Everyone knows that Asians can't play rugby.
00:28:50It's tough, eh?
00:28:51If we were real estate, you'd be the cheapest house on the street.
00:28:52You'd be the cheapest house on the street.
00:28:53What?
00:28:54What?
00:28:55What?
00:28:56What?
00:28:57What?
00:28:58What?
00:28:59What?
00:29:00What?
00:29:01What?
00:29:02What?
00:29:03What?
00:29:04What?
00:29:05What?
00:29:06What?
00:29:07What?
00:29:08What?
00:29:09What?
00:29:10What?
00:29:11What?
00:29:12What?
00:29:13what?
00:29:14Phoebe's house on the street.
00:29:15Pair in your couch if you're on there.
00:29:16P embarrassment!
00:29:23You are about to.
00:29:25You're an Asian, mate!
00:29:32Eddie, Elbow's.
00:29:36The real estate line was funny.
00:29:38And you were there?
00:29:40Asians can't play.
00:29:41play. What would you say? Life's not a popularity contest, Eddie. You do your best. And if only
00:29:49you know that, that's enough. Did you do your best? Chess originated in 6th century India.
00:29:59Was coughing a strategy back then? No, but thinking was important.
00:30:06Knowing your objective is important. So is maintaining your morale.
00:30:15Are you having fun? It's your move. Are you going to call? Depends if you need me to.
00:30:26Okay. It's like life, don't you think?
00:30:35Do what it takes to stay in the game. But you didn't cough. You didn't think.
00:30:44But you need to find a new career.
00:30:47Eddie, you're in hospital. You had a stroke.
00:30:53Oh shit. I got to pay for the All Blacks. Forget the All Blacks. How can you forget those
00:31:00bastards? When the stroke wears off, I'm out of here. It's not a drug. You need a lot of therapy.
00:31:06Where's the therapy room? Take this off.
00:31:13Oh.
00:31:14Oh, I'm out of here.
00:31:15Oh.
00:31:16Oh.
00:31:17Oh.
00:31:18Oh.
00:31:19Oh.
00:31:20Oh.
00:31:21Oh.
00:31:22Oh.
00:31:23Oh.
00:31:24Take this off.
00:31:45Was that all?
00:31:50Nobody should have been here before several.
00:31:52You're not supposed to be on the earth.
00:32:22You're welcome.
00:32:25Mr. Jones, it's nearly midnight.
00:32:53I'm nearly finished.
00:33:09Eddie, I'm curious.
00:33:12Who inspires you?
00:33:14My parents, mate.
00:33:16Can I ask why?
00:33:20My mother was born in California, Japanese-American.
00:33:26After Pearl Harbor, she was interned.
00:33:30I never heard her say a bad word about anybody.
00:33:34And your father?
00:33:38People abused him because his partner was Asian.
00:33:44Then they abused him when he came back from Vietnam.
00:33:48I never heard him say a bad word about anybody.
00:33:52You mentioned Vietnam.
00:33:54I heard you grew up in a white society at that time.
00:33:57How was that?
00:34:02It's fine, mate.
00:34:04I knew he was.
00:34:11My life at this country is to order to develop this country.
00:34:15I would like to say that.
00:34:16We need to have a new director.
00:34:19There you have to be a director.
00:34:21I thought he was happy about it.
00:34:23The director of the presidentists is still here for 1 month.
00:34:26We only live for a while.
00:34:27He's seen as a captain of Ritch Michael.
00:34:30He's a magnificent captain of Ritch.
00:34:32I see him.
00:34:35But Ritch was looking for Michael.
00:34:37He was a fighter for overseas.
00:34:41He said he's not a fighter.
00:34:42He's not to say anything.
00:34:44But he's Japanese.
00:34:47He's Japanese.
00:34:48He's Japanese.
00:34:50Ritch is Japanese.
00:34:52It's not a half.
00:34:54He's an Austrian guy.
00:34:56He's a New Zealand man.
00:34:59He's a Fiji man.
00:35:01He's a Fiji man.
00:35:03I don't know where to go.
00:35:10Is that the time you lost 145 points?
00:35:17I'm sorry.
00:35:26Dear Eddie, I won't write about your health because I know you'll be taking care of that.
00:35:40Perhaps you've had thoughts about changing your career.
00:35:43Or maybe others are suggesting it.
00:35:46All those damn experts don't know what they're talking about.
00:35:51What people do when nobody's watching, that's the key Eddie.
00:35:55So many people just give up.
00:35:58They'll never know how close they were to doing something
00:36:02because we all need to push through the mud of life to find our gold.
00:36:06Believe, Eddie.
00:36:07It fuels everything.
00:36:09It washes away the mud and wins clarity.
00:36:12Slow but always strong, Eddie.
00:36:15You could've.
00:36:17So many times I wanted to quit the military, but I didn't.
00:36:21Which allowed me to meet your mother.
00:36:24Eddie.
00:36:25Eddie, we just got back from Scotland.
00:36:26Yeah, I see.
00:36:27Do you still need a coach?
00:36:28Everybody supports you.
00:36:29Yeah.
00:36:30I have a bad feeling about this.
00:36:31Happy thoughts, Michael.
00:36:32Happy thoughts.
00:36:33Happy thoughts.
00:36:34Happy thoughts.
00:36:35Happy thoughts.
00:36:36Happy thoughts.
00:36:41I have a bad feeling about this.
00:36:42Happy thoughts, Michael.
00:36:43Happy thoughts.
00:36:48Have a bad feeling about this.
00:36:50I have a bad feeling about this.
00:36:51Happy thoughts, Michael.
00:36:52Happy thoughts.
00:36:54I have a bad feeling about this.
00:36:56Happy thoughts.
00:36:57We'll find another place.
00:37:17That place is perfect.
00:37:19Let's go.
00:37:35What's going on, Michael?
00:37:46They didn't ask for my ID.
00:37:49He never told me that they checked you before.
00:37:53It's fine.
00:37:55We don't have to go to my English school, okay?
00:37:57It's a dumb idea.
00:37:59Hey, it doesn't matter what people say.
00:38:02We'll never please everybody.
00:38:05Okay.
00:38:10Welcome back, Eddie.
00:38:11Yeah, good to be back.
00:38:15Thanks.
00:38:16Gordon needs to work harder.
00:38:17Everyone's ready for you.
00:38:19You stayed back after your class to meet me.
00:38:23I want you to think about your study
00:38:25like a game of rugby.
00:38:27Welcome back, Eddie.
00:38:29Why don't Michael Leach be captain?
00:38:31He's his own man.
00:38:33He'll make the right decisions.
00:38:35We all have goals.
00:38:37But sometimes, it feels like we're getting nowhere.
00:38:39I think it's consistent with the foreign flavor to your squad.
00:38:41I think it's consistent with the foreign flavor to your squad.
00:38:45You've got a captain who's not Japanese.
00:38:47Someone just said he was Fijian.
00:38:49I thought he was a Kiwi.
00:38:50What's your point, mate?
00:38:51Other times, you make progress.
00:38:53And you feel great.
00:38:54But it doesn't last long.
00:38:55You've got a lot of foreigners in your squad.
00:38:57And we've got less foreign born players in other countries.
00:38:58Not true.
00:38:59I don't have all the answers.
00:39:00But whatever your challenge is, whether it's studying English or playing rugby, the answer
00:39:04is always within you.
00:39:05You should open your eyes more than your mouth.
00:39:07It's probably a lot more than your mouth.
00:39:08But you don't have all the answers.
00:39:09But whatever your challenge is, whether it's studying English or playing rugby, the answer
00:39:22is always within you.
00:39:23You should open your eyes more than your mouth.
00:39:26Samoa has more.
00:39:28So does Tonga.
00:39:29Australia 9. Their captain was born in Saudi Arabia.
00:39:33But you only care about attacking what you think looks wrong.
00:39:37So when everybody's telling you what to do, just be true to yourself.
00:39:41And do what's burning inside. That way, you'll always do right.
00:39:45So, let's talk about what most people think looks wrong.
00:39:49Michael Leach is black, but he'll captain Japan.
00:39:53And I wouldn't care if he was purple, mate. So you go write that in your column that only 15 people read.
00:39:57Thank you and good luck.
00:40:03Anyone that's worked with Edie has been sprayed at least a thousand times.
00:40:07But, you know, Edie, he has a genuine care for people he loves.
00:40:13He's a big fan of the guys.
00:40:15And then he takes over. Watches the arms strike kick into the front as he raises the last gun burst.
00:40:19He'll out the right to the right.
00:40:21Well, I love you all. I love you all. I love you all.
00:40:25I love you all. I love you all. I love you all. I love you all.
00:40:27I love you all. I love you all. I love you all.
00:40:29Everyone that's been with Edie have come out better than they were before.
00:40:33During the off-season, I want you to arrange for me to meet Pip Guardiola.
00:40:36Okay? To Spain Munich.
00:40:37I also want to visit a team in the tour de France.
00:40:39I want to see how they train.
00:40:41It's hard work and then you meet Edie and he just puts it on a different level.
00:40:56You don't know how to work until you meet Edie James.
00:41:03How was Pep?
00:41:04Very good.
00:41:05The cyclists?
00:41:06Tough, mate.
00:41:11Good to be here. Good to see everybody back.
00:41:13Hey, go ahead.
00:41:14How did you come home?
00:41:15It's been a year to go.
00:41:17A lot of good teams to play and a lot of camps.
00:41:20Let me tell you this.
00:41:23How many times in your life do you get a chance to make history?
00:41:28If you do that, why do you tell that?
00:41:30How does it feel to know that people think you're a joke?
00:41:37Did you hear that laughter?
00:41:40People think you're a joke.
00:41:43And people in this room have lost their family homes, their farms.
00:41:46Have had them washed away in the tsunami.
00:41:49Some of you have handicapped children.
00:41:51And people laugh when you're trying to do something to help support your families.
00:41:56Training, preparation.
00:41:57You need to know that doing your best will not be enough.
00:42:06Doing your best only keeps you with the pack.
00:42:09When training finishes, most of you vanish.
00:42:12Is that your best?
00:42:14Ask yourself, is that your best?
00:42:17Roger Bannister.
00:42:19All the experts said it was impossible to break the four-minute mile.
00:42:24He didn't give a shit about what people said.
00:42:26Instead, he tells everybody he'll break the four minutes.
00:42:30And he gave them a date and a place.
00:42:33So he wakes up.
00:42:35It's raining and windy.
00:42:37But he knew it was only gonna take a half a percent improvement.
00:42:40A half a percent improvement to do what nobody in the world had ever done before.
00:42:45So he runs.
00:42:49Three minutes, fifty-nine.
00:42:54The next month, another guy breaks four minutes.
00:42:56The following year, three people do it.
00:43:01So what the hell do experts know?
00:43:06They'll tell you what they know.
00:43:07Nothing.
00:43:08And that's a good thing.
00:43:10Because all the experts say you can't win.
00:43:14We're gonna hunt these guys down and they won't see us coming.
00:43:22We're gonna do everything they don't want us to.
00:43:24Our smaller size will be our advantage.
00:43:27They can't adapt.
00:43:28They play one way.
00:43:29We'll be able to play a number of different ways.
00:43:31If it's raining, if it's windy, if it's dry, it won't matter.
00:43:35It won't matter.
00:43:39Now people will say you can't win.
00:43:42A billion people thought he couldn't do it, but he did.
00:43:44So screw the experts.
00:43:47He set a date and a place.
00:43:50And ours is the 19th of September, Brighton, England.
00:43:53We will win.
00:43:56We will win.
00:44:02Let's go.
00:44:06Chest up!
00:44:07Inconference, guys!
00:44:08Go!
00:44:09Good!
00:44:10Good!
00:44:11Five!
00:44:12Six!
00:44:13Eight!
00:44:14Nothing!
00:44:16I am no more recent.
00:44:17You're weak.
00:44:18Look him hard, mate.
00:44:19Don't sugarcate it.
00:44:20I've seen every South African line-out in the last eight years.
00:44:23There's nothing on us.
00:44:24Stick to the plan!
00:44:25South Africa think you're weak.
00:44:29Work them hard, mate. Don't sugarcoat it.
00:44:32I've seen every South African line-up in the last eight years.
00:44:35They've got nothing on us. Stick to the plan.
00:44:37Be comfortable being uncomfortable.
00:44:39Move it. Get lower, get lower.
00:44:40Lower, lower. Lower.
00:44:45That's the hardest session I've ever seen.
00:44:48They won 150.
00:44:49Call them again.
00:44:51Which part, mate?
00:44:52All of it. They're adults, not kids.
00:44:55Keep them hydrated.
00:44:56South Africa's going to take them places they've never been before.
00:44:59They're going to break. Let it happen here.
00:45:01Everybody back with their feet.
00:45:03All right. Let's go.
00:45:05One, two, one, two, go!
00:45:09Yeah, I like this.
00:45:12Yeah, I'm thinking about it.
00:45:20Go on.
00:45:20During the last World Cup,
00:45:25you get a phone call to join the national team.
00:45:29Tell everybody the good news.
00:45:31Everybody celebrate it.
00:45:33Then they call you an hour later.
00:45:35Tell you you're not needed.
00:45:38Must have been disappointing.
00:45:39You're a talented guy, mate.
00:45:44But that's not enough.
00:45:48This is your problem.
00:45:50We fix this,
00:45:51or you're going to get another disappointing phone call.
00:45:53Every player that's been in that camp
00:46:19would have said it's the hardest time of their life.
00:46:22I don't really think about it.
00:46:31I don't really want to think about it.
00:46:33It's hard to play.
00:46:34Why do we have to train every day at 5am? Why are we doing this?
00:46:57It's really... It's a hell of a flood.
00:47:12Well, really, it's easy to leave. It's impossible to leave.
00:47:18Yeah, it was a very, very tough time, and the team started to dissemble.
00:47:33JR, you tell them that they can't go on strike.
00:47:40There aren't many?
00:47:42Okay, I'll have a talk to him.
00:47:44What's wrong, mate?
00:48:05You seriously don't know.
00:48:06You're not the only people in the world that finish working a bit of pain.
00:48:09You ever worked in construction?
00:48:11You guys are pampered and you complain.
00:48:13We'll have nothing left in the tank, Eddie.
00:48:14You'll be fine.
00:48:15They're busted, mate.
00:48:16Some of the boys are talking about walking away.
00:48:19That's not my problem.
00:48:20How is that not your problem?
00:48:21I'm not on the field against South Africa.
00:48:23You think they're gonna take it easy on you?
00:48:24This is bullshit.
00:48:25You're listening to bullshit, Lichi.
00:48:27That's the problem.
00:48:28Eddie, we're training eight hours a day.
00:48:30I'm not happy about that either.
00:48:31I want it nine.
00:48:32When people don't take responsibility, they make excuses, mate.
00:48:36You're not gonna have anybody at training tomorrow.
00:48:39That's not my problem.
00:48:43I don't care what the board says.
00:48:44You can go back to your rooms if you like.
00:48:48Hey, wait a minute.
00:48:49You're having something up here.
00:48:50You're having a problem.
00:48:51If you're making a problem, you're out of that.
00:48:52If you're making a game, it does not help you.
00:48:53It does not help you.
00:48:54If you're having something that happens, you're out of it.
00:48:55You're making a problem.
00:48:56There's nothing in this room.
00:48:57You're missing anything.
00:48:58Never mind.
00:48:59You're coming back.
00:49:00You're up and you're making a problem.
00:49:01You're gonna be praying.
00:49:02Come in, just.
00:49:03Hey, wait a minute.
00:49:04I don't care what the board says.
00:49:06You can go back to your rooms if you like.
00:49:22Mate, I don't give a shit about the board.
00:49:24What's wrong with you guys?
00:49:26We're so far behind South Africa, we can't afford a rest.
00:49:28Are you telling me you can't train?
00:49:34We're going to be playing South Africa. We are.
00:49:40We'll be the ones who will be embarrassing our families, ourselves,
00:49:44and obviously you're tired of getting our ass kicked like a team.
00:49:47We need to work.
00:49:49Goro, what do you do?
00:49:52I want to win South Africa.
00:49:55Anybody that doesn't want to beat South Africa can leave.
00:49:58Together, let's go! Let's go!
00:50:02On the line!
00:50:04On three! One, two, three!
00:50:20Bring it in!
00:50:22Very good. Enjoy tonight.
00:50:25Tomorrow we'll take a walk together.
00:50:28Then we'll make our way to the airport.
00:50:32One, two, three!
00:50:34Let's go!
00:50:36Let's go over it again.
00:50:38The hotel to the ground in Brighton.
00:50:40I'm 12 minutes by bus.
00:50:42I've booked a reserve bus in case something happens.
00:50:44The uncontrollables, what are they?
00:50:46The weather and that.
00:50:52What's the plan?
00:50:54I leave at local police about getting an escort from the hotel to the ground.
00:51:00And you'll provide all details to the other staff members because I'm not going to hit by a bus.
00:51:06Mate, I don't think you will, but if something does happen, they won't call the game off.
00:51:10I'm not so willing.
00:51:12It took you 150 days to make a jack mate.
00:51:16I wasn't joking.
00:51:18Give me some risks.
00:51:20What's that?
00:51:22Good night.
00:51:24Good night.
00:51:25Mom.
00:51:28Eddie turned.
00:51:34Ah, what's the matter?
00:51:37Your father.
00:51:43He spoke of you right up until the end.
00:51:48He'll always be with you.
00:51:51That's why we called to Eddie.
00:51:54I'll get a float back tonight.
00:51:59Don't you dare, young man.
00:52:01Your father didn't go from mission to mission
00:52:04when he was in the military,
00:52:06so that you could run away from yours.
00:52:09He served his country with pride.
00:52:12You stay there and do your job.
00:52:24Losing a family member is tough for anyone.
00:52:29I mean, they're sick or old,
00:52:31and they always want an extra day with them,
00:52:33but those things you can't control.
00:52:46I heard yesterday.
00:52:48Is he going home?
00:54:17Each headstone represents a life.
00:54:20ここには人々の人生が 眠っています
00:54:24Your lives are still ahead.
00:54:27皆さんの人生は まだこれからです
00:54:32How will people remember you?
00:54:34人の記憶に残るような人生を どう送るか?
00:54:46Enjoy your time here.
00:55:46It means take your time, look who you, you see things against South Africa, it's your
00:55:55call, it's your gang mate, don't blend in, make your brother proud.
00:56:06Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
00:56:36Eddie, you're one day away from playing South Africa, but they've picked their most experienced
00:56:48side ever with 880 test caps.
00:56:52Big day mate, and we've heard that you've just come off a camp that lasted for 150 days.
00:56:58Was it really that long?
00:56:59Yeah, something like that.
00:57:00I can't count that high mate.
00:57:02Well, thanks for your time, Eddie, and good luck.
00:57:05Thank you man.
00:57:06Leyte!
00:57:07That was crap mate.
00:57:08It's embarrassing.
00:57:09You kept talking to the media, so we started things.
00:57:12I said it'd be 10 minutes.
00:57:13That was 7.
00:57:14We're playing South Africa tomorrow.
00:57:15We've dropped more balls in 5 minutes than we did in 5 months.
00:57:16No wonder people are saying we're going to lose by 80 points.
00:57:18I'm fine Eddie, go.
00:57:19From what I saw, I don't think so.
00:57:20We're good.
00:57:21Go.
00:57:22Michael.
00:57:23Michael.
00:57:24I called you in room.
00:57:25Are you okay?
00:57:26What if we do lose by 80?
00:57:27We're 100.
00:57:28Don't say that.
00:57:29What if we do lose by 80?
00:57:30We're 100.
00:57:31Don't say that.
00:57:32Eddie's showing us every take on it.
00:57:33Eddie's showing us every take on it.
00:57:34We're fine, Eddie.
00:57:35We're fine, Eddie.
00:57:36Go.
00:57:37From what I saw, I don't think so.
00:57:38We're good.
00:57:39Go.
00:57:40Michael.
00:57:41I called you in room.
00:57:42Are you okay?
00:57:43What if we do lose by 80?
00:57:44Or 100?
00:57:45Don't say that.
00:57:46Eddie's showing us every take on it.
00:57:48You know every player, their nicknames, the way they run, tackle, line out, scrum.
00:58:01But for every player on our team, they're better.
00:58:12You should say it, Michael, okay?
00:58:20Just be you.
00:58:24That's the most important thing.
00:58:37I'll stay in the stands, eh?
00:58:42What if we do lose by 80, 100?
00:58:55I was just asking a question.
00:59:00You don't get it.
00:59:01I was just asking a question, Eddie.
00:59:03You don't take for your home, mate.
00:59:05Even if you have to lie through your teeth.
00:59:08It's late, Eddie.
00:59:09Hey, every big game, we send our supporters home as losers.
00:59:15Are you listening?
00:59:17They shuffle along, they've got their heads down.
00:59:21They've just wasted half their weekend.
00:59:24But they come back.
00:59:27Week after week, they come back.
00:59:31You owe them.
00:59:34And what about you?
00:59:35I'm not on the field.
00:59:38In every position, South Africa are better than us.
00:59:40That's true.
00:59:43There's no way they're fitter.
00:59:46They're stronger, we're more unified.
00:59:48They're faster.
00:59:50More experience.
00:59:52I don't give a damn.
00:59:55Neither should you.
00:59:56Every second, every play, we play for each other.
01:00:01And our supporters.
01:00:05It's a mess, mate.
01:00:06I don't give a damn.
01:00:27Oh, what do you do?
01:00:45You'll see.
01:00:57Perfect weather and a capacity crowd here in Brighton and we are moments away from kickoff
01:01:12and on face value this is a classic mismatch.
01:01:16South Africa, the team with the best strike rate in World Cup history
01:01:19against Japan, the team with the worst overall record.
01:01:23Just one win from 24 attempts.
01:01:26Eddie, thank you for everything.
01:01:28Thank you, you made it possible for the dark.
01:01:30Thank you for the dark.
01:01:36You're alive.
01:01:38I am.
01:01:42You gotta stay with them.
01:01:44Do what they hate.
01:01:46You give more than you ever have.
01:01:50If you do that, you win this game.
01:01:56Play our way.
01:01:58Japan way.
01:02:00Let's go.
01:02:02Pass 4 of the Brooklyn Union Cup 2015.
01:02:06And this is Tui.
01:02:08The number 8 forwards.
01:02:10And he is immediately taken heavily there on the Japanese goal line.
01:02:14And Japan immediately under pressure.
01:02:16Japan way over halfway to Kirchner.
01:02:20Kirchner's size is up.
01:02:22It has to be a fast chance for Japan.
01:02:24Japan under pressure here.
01:02:28You can see.
01:02:30Do a go.
01:02:32First shot at points in the game for Japan.
01:02:34First shot at points in the game for Japan.
01:02:38The Japanese.
01:02:40After the Japanese.
01:02:41The Japanese do a lot of tapping now.
01:02:43The Japanese do a lot of tapping now.
01:02:44This is the Tui.
01:02:45To go.
01:02:46No, no, no.
01:02:47It's the Tui.
01:02:48It's the Tui.
01:02:49It's the Tui.
01:02:50The Tui.
01:02:51It's the Tui.
01:02:52The Tui.
01:02:53This is what they are so good at, particularly against me today.
01:03:23The power to match them up front.
01:03:26Tethered by Havada.
01:03:31Another Bevele.
01:03:36Another summer goal.
01:03:38Very uncharacteristic this.
01:03:40You can only tackle for so long against this sort of onslaught.
01:03:43Lampy.
01:03:45Here's a go.
01:03:47Here's Matt Biel and Bergen.
01:03:49Here it is now for...
01:03:51...but here it is.
01:03:53Oh!
01:03:54Suck it!
01:03:56Go!
01:03:57Go!
01:03:58Go!
01:03:59Come on!
01:04:00Come on!
01:04:01Come on!
01:04:02Trailing 7-3-2.
01:04:04Nice little kick.
01:04:08They slipped it away nicely.
01:04:12The back's joined again.
01:04:15It's a 10-man move.
01:04:16South Africa holding on Grimley.
01:04:19The Japanese edge towards the posts.
01:04:22Can they do it?
01:04:24Oh yes!
01:04:27The control is good.
01:04:28They are going now.
01:04:29To squeeze it out.
01:04:30To try.
01:04:31They beat.
01:04:32Not the value.
01:04:33This is what we've seen.
01:04:34This is brilliant support play.
01:04:35Jesse Crill.
01:04:36Detoy.
01:04:37Nvongo.
01:04:38South Stoke again.
01:04:39They've worked so hard on countering South African more.
01:04:40that they've got a problem here again.
01:04:41Here's Mark.
01:04:42He's desperate to hold on here as South Africa are flying the screws.
01:04:45Japan's defence is staying composed and holding their relations.
01:04:46Big tackle.
01:04:47And that sums up Japan's performance in the first half.
01:05:14They just went toe-to-toe with the team with the best record in World Cup history.
01:05:21Are they Superman?
01:05:24I saw them bleeding.
01:05:26Hunched over.
01:05:27Sucking hair.
01:05:31They're spent.
01:05:32They're trying to do their best.
01:05:34But we know that's not good enough.
01:05:38They're out on their feet.
01:05:42They're fatigued but they're winning.
01:05:47Coral.
01:05:48We need those kicks.
01:05:51How do your families feel right now?
01:05:55How do your supporters feel?
01:06:02We're not here to be valiant losers.
01:06:06Not today.
01:06:08Those days are over.
01:06:09This is when you leave everything on the field.
01:06:18Everything you've got and more.
01:06:20Find that half a percent more.
01:06:23Our finishes are ready to go on.
01:06:28We keep playing fast.
01:06:30We keep doing what they hate.
01:06:32And we don't stop.
01:06:33You deserve this.
01:06:43Your families deserve this.
01:06:46Don't let them down.
01:06:48You're here.
01:06:4940 minutes to make history.
01:06:53It's no longer about you.
01:06:58You're out there for other people.
01:07:01Playing with crime.
01:07:03You get this done.
01:07:07And a chance for Japan now.
01:07:20To hit the lead.
01:07:22You're just outside the 22.
01:07:23New Jaeger.
01:07:24He's a giraffe.
01:07:25A different one.
01:07:26There's no bubble.
01:07:27Here's an opportunity.
01:07:28It goes again.
01:07:29Oh.

01:08:28This race, cut field.
01:08:30Down right in the corner and a down right.
01:08:33On shuttle.
01:08:35I don't think we're talking since y'all.
01:08:38Still going off to win the under.
01:08:40It's been very good, the Japanese one.
01:08:42Can we go? Let's see what's going on!
01:08:44I'm done!
01:08:45I'm done!
01:08:46I'm done!
01:08:48I'm done!
01:08:49I'm done!
01:08:50I'm done!
01:08:51I'm done!
01:08:52Oh yeah!
01:08:54Huge toggle here at the trigger.
01:08:57The bounce at a star.
01:09:01The early tones and the great blossoms.
01:09:04Sound like it'll hover by three.
01:09:07Well read by Gordon.
01:09:10It's a better time.
01:09:12Three on three.
01:09:15Tupin looking for a historic win.
01:09:18And they have a real estate.
01:09:20Oh!
01:09:24They're being tested here.
01:09:26It's the step.
01:09:28Dangerous.
01:09:29Cornwall.
01:09:30And they're so close.
01:09:32They've been held up, I think, by Furi Gupria.
01:09:36Here they're going for the final goal.
01:09:38The whole chance there.
01:09:40They're going for the drive.
01:09:4290 seconds to go.
01:09:48Tony, did you take the pick?
01:09:49Yes.
01:09:51Did they go for the draw, John?
01:09:53What are they going for the win?
01:10:02Take the three.
01:10:03Well, he tries to find the draw and says, we are here to win.
01:10:13This is now the biggest start of the game.
01:10:18Still have it.
01:10:20That's it.
01:10:23They're the captain.
01:10:24The crowd will give the Japanese the winning medal after.
01:10:27It's tough going to Japan.
01:10:29Mwaza goes in.
01:10:31The man's legs.
01:10:32We're scoped.
01:10:33The tower.
01:10:35Come on!
01:10:37Malky!
01:10:38Make it up!
01:10:40Oh, my God.
01:11:10Oh, my God.
01:11:40I think we're a proud, very proud rugby-playing nation, and I think no one expected the Springboks to come unstuck against a team from Japan. I mean, that's the reality.
01:12:40It was unexpected, and as great as it was maybe for the game and for the World Cup, for us as South Africans, it was a sporting catastrophe.
01:12:47So the decision not to kick the goal was a brave decision, and I'm pleased that Leach made the decision. At the exact moment, I was obviously upset, but we backed him to make decisions.
01:13:02To take the kick and miss, you know, they'll haunt me for the rest of my life, but to challenge the win, go for the try, and create new history, you know, that was one of the biggest decisions of my life.
01:13:16Particularly in sport, you know, we all chat about players being confidence players. I mean, every single sportsperson in the world is a confidence player.
01:13:25So if you don't believe, you're never going to be able to achieve. Deep down inside, you've got to find that ability, that strength to go and play the game, to go and do something spectacular, to go and do the incredible, the unexpected.
01:13:41But for me, it's really simple. It is all about believing. If you don't believe, you don't have a hope.
01:13:49I can't play a game, but I think I can play a game.
01:13:56I can't play a game with my team.
01:14:01I can't play a game.
01:14:09I can't forget that I've had a great time.
01:14:13I've had a great game.
01:14:18Eddie Jones and his Japanese team, belief, you know, has worked to that one focused goal for so long.
01:14:27And that instilled the belief, it instilled the something deep down inside that comes from being so very focused on one mission, one purpose.
01:14:36And that ultimately is what enabled them to the point it is absolutely about the drivers of belief that make it all happen.
01:14:44Well, to me, the most amazing thing of the World Cup was after we beat South Africa.
01:14:51The next game we played against Scotland was that 30 million people in Japan watched on television.
01:14:56That's one in every four people in Japan.
01:15:00And so the effect that one sporting team can have on the nation in engendering a sense of optimism, it's a fantastic thing that the players did for the country.
01:15:12And I think the country will always be proud of them.
01:15:14We have to go early on by 2020.
01:15:21That happens in a few days at a time.
01:15:24The next game we played against Scotland
01:15:32We already Roll the媽,dzake, Paul
